£10M isn't what it used to be. And whilst I'm not exactly enthralled with the names being touted, 3 players that would provide coverage in certain areas, as well as adding squad depth for £10M is good business.
Based on that argument, why not:
Alcaraz (free)
Douglas (free)
Bridcutt (free)
Redmond (£3m)
Finnbogason (£3m)
Roughly the same outlay (less fees, more wages), but more players. Bridcutt could make the step up like Cahill and Lescott did, and Redmond and Finnbogason are younger and cheaper than Kone and McGeady. If all you're looking for is depth, why spend more than you need to?
