The summer 2013 Everton transfer rumourZ thread

I will give every player that signs for Everton my support , in the past we have been very wrong about players that we have signed particularly Gibson for the right reasons and when you think of his initial transfer fee , his reputation and exorbitant wage then you would have to say that Heitinga has been a disappointment.

All new players bring something different to a squad.
Kone is an experienced striker who will immediately be fighting for a first team place. It sets the bat for the other strikers.Last season Anichebe or Jelavic played regardless of goals scored or the form they were in. This season they have to be better than Kone. We would all like if we could afford 25m for a striker, but we can't and very few clubs can.

I think McGeady would be the most interesting addition, because he brings something to the squad that David Moyes wasn't really comfortable with. A player that specialises in one position,a flair player,a winger , a player with pace....there is the negative side that he hasn't delivered the potential that was shown as a younger player, but it would be an interesting signing and something different to what we already have.

Alcaraz is like for like, highly regarded and much cheaper albeit a couple of years older, but Distin has shown us that we shouldn't get too worried about age.

I dont mind Duffy being behind Alcaraz, just as long as Duffy can go out on loan and prove himself.

I'm not sure Duffy should go on loan to be honest

I think this is the season he should start getting eased in as a replacement for Distin

I DO think that Francisco Junior should go out on loan though for 6 months at the start of the season to get some games under his belt. He can them come back at the tail end of the season to cover for injuries and suspensions (because you know with Gibson, Pienarr, Osman and Felli in the squad that that's likely), leading to him getting eased in during 14/15 and then hopefully being a full fledged started in 15/16 (And a good one at that)

You've gotta tip your trilby to those that can see no negatives when it comes to Everton and always try and look for the positives.

Minnows Cardiff and Swansea are signing Cornelius, 20 year old top goalscorer in Denmark with big potential, and Wilfried Bony, 24 years old with 31 goals last season.

While we sign Arouna Kone, 30 year old journeyman striker with an average career goalscoring record for 5/6 million?

But we're Everton and Martinez is the Spanish incarnate of Jesus himself, so we've clearly got the better and wiser deal.

Fair play!

Duffy should have gone out on loan last season, but you know, moyes thought he was too important for the u21's but not important enough for the first team squad. I wouldn't complain if duffy was used within our team somehow, but if he's just gonna be for the u21's he better of going out on loan.

Rather than do the old classic, I think we should sell X, Y and Z for £30m then bring in A, B, C and D for £21m (£9m to the bank, naturally) then have everyone moan about not factoring in agent fees, saying "Z is no better than B" and "you really think we'd get £1m for Y?", etc. I'd like to hear people's views on the players we've already "missed" this summer.

Of the players we've previously been linked with (albeit loosely), the following have moved already:

Arshavin (to Zenit) FREE
Drenthe (to Reading) Undisclosed
Okore (to Aston Villa) Undisclosed
Figueroa (to Hull) FREE
Lovren (to Southampton) £8.5m
Stekelenburg (to Fulham) Undisclosed
Cornelius (to Cardiff) £7m

Also, it looks as though Bony is heading to Swansea for £10.2m and Wanyama is heading to Southampton for £12m.

Although I'm disappointed to miss a lot of these players, I would've been tearing my hair out had we paid some of these prices (Cornelius). Thoughts?

Dare to dream andy

Dare to dream!

It's Everton.

Dreaming only ever leaves you disappointed, not one of our 'big chased stars' has ever signed. We signed Fellaini out of the blue but we haven't signed a single on of the marquee players that's been banded about over the years.

Aim low with Everton, that way you'll get whats expected rather than aiming too high and being majorly disappointed.

Okore is a good player, other than that, we can't afford to pay big prices for players that are a risk, and many of those are a risk. Stekelenburg is a good keeper but imagine they've paid a decent fee for him. We can't afford to spend money on a keeper either. As much as I'd like a new keeper with good aeriel ability and commanding his area but it's just not a priority.

Were paying virtually 10 mil for 2 players who won't get in the first 11, I would rather buy one player who would get in the first 11 and the player he replaces then becomes squad player. It's the only way we will improve. It reminds me of Rodgers buying Borini and Allen for Liverpool the only difference was they got another 20 mil in January to rectify that mistake, we won't be able too. If we want squad players we could get Redmond and Cornelius for far cheaper and would also be able to sell them if they were no good.

Kone would walk into our starting line up ahead of any of the strikers we have now....get a grip of yourself ffs.

Cornelius seems quite steep, wouldn't take drenthe or arshavin. Lorren is to expensive. Wanyama is to risky as he comes from a silly league. The only one I would go for is Bony and looks like a good price.

Bony is £10m+ too though? £10m from a silly league as well. Dirk Kuyt, Alfonso Alves both scored goals in Eredivisie.

How in the name of god do you know that at this stage?

Based on what we've seen for the last couple years at least, and the current personnel in the team.

We don't have the midfielders to play a 4-3-3; I can see how Kone would be viewed as a piece in the puzzle if we convert to a 4-3-3, but he isn't a midfielder. Equally McGeady, if our interest is real and not just twitter-based cobblers, is not a 4-3-3 midfielder either. I suppose he could be one of the wide men in the front 3, but it would start making us look rather top heavy in the squad.

We would have Jelavic, Anichebe, Vellios, Naismith, Pienaar, Mirallas all vying for a spot in the front 3 and none, bar MAYBE Pienaar, being capable of playing as one of the midfield three; Felli, Gibson, Barkley and Osman as the midfield? I'm not convinced that Gibbo or Ossie could make the switch, and there is the question mark over whether anyone is going to pinch Fellaini away.

Perhaps Martinez is going to make considerable changes, including formations, but if so I think we are going to need some midfielders to facilitate it.

Because my friend we have seen and heard it all before from the likes of you, pre-season after pre-season.

For Cornelius - see Bendtner - for Bony see Alfonso Alves, among others who scored bucket fulls in the Dutch and French leagues and turned out to be nothing special in the premier league.

Only people like you won't see it this way, because you prefer to knock first and make knee-jerk reactions about what other clubs are doing.

why not consider for a moment, maybe the coaching staff at Everton think Kone will do a job for a couple of seasons whilst the likes of Long mature and come through the ranks, or that we may spend some more money on another striker if Fellaini leaves giving the club more of a transfer kitty.

Why look so negatively about something you actually don't have a clue of the outcome of.

I'd agree with that. I didn't think Cornelius would go for more than about £4m.

I'd rather we went in for Bony than spend £5m on Kone.
