What Mart said.

Celtic, well Lennon, would want insane money for Wanyama.
And Capoue is being touted in the £15 region.

All better than McCarthy though.

Wanyma would be around 15m, and I think Capoue has a 13m release clause I think, and all 3 are miles ahead of McCarthy so would be worth it.

Rodwell seems to be progressing well at man city......becoming the player we thought he would and had that one outstanding game towards the end of the season.....granted he was 'over-hyped' when playing for us but he is definitely a 12 mil player......its not like we got a cracking deal selling him....we got the right deal....and so did city..

Oh really? That is incorrect. All the Citeh fans remembered was that he gave away a couple of goals due to his errors and don't forget he handed over the F.A Cup to Wigan because of his awful man marking towards the end.

And he played only 15 games in all competition. He had one good game in the last day of the season and you called that progressing? Oh dear.

They're not, not at all, in fact as central midfielders go, I think they're polar opposites.
If Fellaini leaves we should be looking to bring in Fer and De Guzman/Honda and that's midfield sorted. Hopefully also much more playing time for Barkley.

Edit: Wasn't meant to be quoting you btw mate.

Im having a hard time finding all those CMs better and cheaper than McCarthy other than Fer. Not saying McCarthy is a world class player but lets be realistic people, there are not that many world class or even good CMs out there cheaper than 10M. Same with all those out there saying we can find wingers as good as Mirallas for 5M.

We have got ourselves some great bargains in the past and something they all had in commom is they where No Names*before signing for us. I really really doubt we'll get 3 or 4 internationals or potentially World Class players for less than 10M. We could maybe get 1, 2 at the most but not the 3 or 4 players we need.

I am with Dutch on this - all this speculation is too early. Players are still on their jollies. The new boss needs to figure out who he has, who is going and where the holes are that he wants to fill. There are lots of good players that could be brought in but I ma sure RM will only look to spend his funds on the places he feels need strengthening. If Johnny goes we need some more CB cover, if Felli goes we need an attacking CM, if he thinks anything of Jelly and Vic then he may opt to keep them until January sales.
If I were in his shoes the short term goal is to keep the team stable and get some early results under the belt in the first 2 months of the coming season, this will keep everyone happy with him and allow him some space in 2014. To accomplish this he needs to keep as many as he can without over inflating the wage bill and then fill any holes. No need for speculative hi risk signings right now on his part I would have thought. Despite all the CL talk the urgent imperative is really stability. He will probably let a few good rumours go on though as it keeps the positive vibe going into the new season but don't see any big nale signings unless we lose a big name.

Adrien from sporting, Adam Maher would probably be cheaper, Rodney Sneidjer, Leroy Fer, Markus Henrikson, Jem Karacan is probably similar level, Dzemaili from napoli, Moreno Costanzo from young boys, Jenssen from norway, Martinez i am sure will know many many more.
