Our first XI is good enough for top 6 as is. If we buy players that help us maintain a challenge over the course of a season then surely it is good enough. I know its a fairly common correlation between money spent and quality brought in but its not always the way.

What you're saying is that you want a super cheap 'unknown' player who is brilliant or will be brilliant at football- Well obviously!??! That's the point of scouting??? But to suggest that as an alternate known-quantity like Ince is unfair.
What you're saying is- Ince costs X and is only good. We should be getting unknown player for X who is better.
Signings like Michu or Coleman are so exceptionally rare, they just don't work out usually (Straq) --- The relationships between club chairmen, managers, players and agents is so incestuous, small and intertwined that what will win above everything once monetary valuation is reached is relationships.
That's why we're signed half of Wigan and are constantly linked with Moses. Martinez is just milking these prior relationships for all their worth. But at the same time it also got us the potential goldmine that is Deleufuo, so I will just put my trust in Bertie and see how we look come September.

Problem is all the signings made so far have been squad signings (maybe apart from kone) we NEED to start bringing in players to improve the first team otherwise we will slip down the table dont get why this concept is so difficult for fans to understand

Re Ince--- I would LOVE LOVE LOVE him to join us and prove to be exceptional, the fact that the Reds would be furious about it just makes it so so sweet.

Guidetti..... Great shout can't see him getting a game at city this year love us to go in for him loan with view to a permenant signing.. Do think we will end up with a unknown aswell. I know Martinez has been getting a bit if stick having recruited the players he gas done from Wigan but do think he will pull a cracking player out of somewhere

But squad players if used properly are useful signings and will help strengthen our position. Everyone wants a stellar signing, but we might not be able to afford one. It doesn't necessitate that we fall down the table if we don't make big signings.

I have no problem with 4 signings being squad signings but any more coming in NEED to be for the first team otherwise we havent strengthened the first team whereas other teams have.
