Still don't think we'll see any incoming transfers this month.

There is absolutely zero chance of anyone signing in June, and only a slight chance of anyone coming in July. Will be last week of August as usual, and i do imagine it will be McCarthy coming in to 'replace' Fellaini.

I wouldn't say zero chance.

Just unlikely.

I dont think Gibson's commanding enough in that respect.

That's were we disagree then. He's got good positional awareness, can tackle, he's always looking for the ball and moves it on quickly and accurately, and has a great range of passing. I think he dictates most of our play when he's on the pitch. We miss him more than anyone else when he doesn't play IMO.

I'm not saying he isn't influential, he clearly is. I'm talking about that specific job of shuttling between CBs and midfield and getting moves going. The CBs launching from the back happens way too often to consider Gibson to be effective at that specific task. Rodwell did this well and is the last player I remember doing this for us on a consistent basis.

Depends what the manager is asking the CB's to do. It was a deliberate tactic for a large part of the season to go long to Fellaini, Anichebe or Jelavic. And the only thing Rodwell did consistently was pick up injuries.

In case you missed it earlier lads. I think we can see Gibbo picking the ball up from the CB's a fair bit in this example and starting moves. This was with Felli playing deep so Felli probably did a bit of this too in this match. You're right though that we go long ball too much at times. In fact it's shown nicely in this example as the first half is 9mins and the second around 4mins where we bypassed Gibson a lot and Gibson himself increased the long balls. Whether it was tiredness after a frantic first half or an explicit instruction, I'm not sure.

Also, to put it into context Gibbo played around double the passes of both Lampard and Aki in this match.

Mate not having a go at ya but with regards to your Rodwell done this on a consistent basis quote, how can anyone who was as injury prone as him do anything on a consistent basis, even last season he only played about 15 times for city because of injury problem.
