He's not fading, didn't really fit at Spurs. Don't really think he fits here either though.

I have faith in Martinez to know what would fit here...hell, we came out in a 3 5 2 vs Juve, I definitely don't know what fits and what doesn't anymore.

Dempsey is a good player and a good squad option at the right price as he can play wide left or right, in a front 3 and in a fron 2. Our squad is better than it was but you can never have too many proven PL goal-scorers...particularly if we really may shift Jelavic.

Perhaps more importantly, in the wider context for us, he would also reinforce our brand in the USA which is important for us as the current tournament is definitely raising our profile beyond the core US "soccer" fan audience and Dempsey is very prominent with US media. The US is a potential source of investment and commercial revenue for us and we need to build our brand there.

Having said all that it is almost certainly just media making 2+2=7

1 player that I like, and rate as a cracking footballer. Looks to be out on loan again, and will not get a chance at his club.

Josh McEAchran

Really good passer of the ball, uses it well. Could be a belter given the chance.

...the main thing for me is that the Manager gets in the players he wants. He'll know his system(s) and the type of player that fits.

I really hate the thought of developing other clubs in the same leagues players, I think it makes us look so small time.

If there was a deal to be done at the end, then maybe.

I do mean trying to buy him now mate.

Tease him with the chance to actually play in the prem.

He will come at a small, reasonable fee, and I'd take him in a second. He had no preseason with Spurs, played out of position there and had way less playing time than he did with Fulham. Why would you not want a guy who has a relentless work rate, is a proven goal scorer and the captain of his International squad? Especially if he comes at a reasonable fee, he's crafty. This man went to Spurs for a paltry 6mill, do know what a non-yank player would command at 28yrs old, after scoring 23 goals in the Premiership? Way more lads... I wouldnt be so quick to dismiss this if it comes to fruition. So much stigma around American players, they have some good ones and he is one of those.

Is there any real weight to these rumours apart from the fact that he flew to the US? I'd take him for a small fee like but I'm not getting my hopes up. Good player but I think he'll likely just go back to MLS and make a few quid before he retires.

He doesn't play in the middle, his best position is out wide either left or right where he can drift in underneath a striker. He has plenty of ability and he can play fantastic balls through to the forwards.

    LATEST TRANSFER GOSSIP
    _69083076_170832782.jpg

Seattle Sounders head coach Sigi Schmid has played down reports in the Seattle Times linking Tottenham forward Clint Dempsey with a move to the United States: "We're always interested in good players, first off and foremost. That's the number one thing our fans need to know. We're always interested in good players. But right now there's really nothing to it. There's nothing to say."
Schmid said that, as far as he knows, no contact has been made with Dempsey or his representation and later added: "You can never close the door on anything, but right now there's nothing that's nailed down and concrete."
The coach did confirm that the team is looking to "add something significant" before the transfer window closes on 8 August. He noted that could be a midfielder or a forward, with the priority "definitely somebody in the middle of the field."

I'd take Dempsey for a small fee. Proven goalscorer and simply didn't get his chance. Even with his limited appearances he scored quite a good few goals. Hopefully if he did come Roberto could get him back into his Fulham form.

Still don't see it anyway, he will be going to have talks with an MLS team.
