Nah, but he is a player that I admire, would love him here. The problem is that Aston Villa payed big for him, and obviously wants a big fee for him. And not to forget, we have 4 strikers already. A striker should not be the top priority. So I'd say no, if no one goes that is.

Dempsey is exactly the type of player we need to add. I'd be made up if we signed him, American or not. He can play. And he'd certainly upgrade our team.

Dempsey will be on about the same at Spurs.
Um his precise position for the national team is generally a wide left player that drifts underneath the striker or is positioned as a withdrawn forward. As far as not better than any of our attacking options when has any of our attacking players scored 23 goals in a a season. or Averaged I think 15-16 over the past three seasons before last and last as a sub had 12 in all. You either have a bias against him or you are clearly misinformed.

MUCH rather have Dempsey than Bent. He works hard. He is versatile. He scores goals. He makes goals.
Bent often does well when he first goes somewhere but it doesn't take long for him to get a sulk on, fall out with the manager and team mates who see he is a lazy primadonna. Then the goals dry up and the fact that he does and offers absolutely nothing else becomes blindingly obvious. In short he is an English, scowling Yakubu with the good and bad that entails. No place for him in Bobby's happy-clappy, positive, no I in team EFC!!

Clint Dempsey. LOL. OK, i promised i would not open my mouth about Martinez, until at least 6, 7 months, but these signings are bordering on embarrassing now. I get the happy lads are glad Moyes is gone and with that the defensive style, but signing players of the calibre of this is not where a top 6 side needs to be aiming for.

Wouldn't be the least bit bothered if we don't sign Dempsey or Bent, both getting on, wasn't impressed at all whenever I saw Dempsey play last year, and Bent will get you goals but add absolutely nothing else to the team, awful footballer, have any of the sides he's been with finished high up the league ?
