Going to Thailand on Monday for first time. I'm travelling for 3 weeks on my own so any advice gratefully received.

I'm planning a couple days in Bangkok then up to Chang Mai before flying down to the islands to do some diving before going to Phuket.

I'll tag @Bungle in now to inevitably highlight the seedier options but any general itinerary advice or tips where to go or avoid would be helpful.

Have a lovely time mate x

Dunno if you have everything sorted but there was an island I went to a lifetime ago called Koh Wai, was just so so awesome. Almost no power anywhere except for coolers. Completely removed from society and "life".

Sounds like you've got it sussed, that's pretty much the order I'd do things. Bit of a drive from Phuket but you could do Khao Sok National Park, there's a huge lake you can get taken out on and stay the night in these little floating huts. They catch and cook fish for your dinner etc. Ive done it twice and apart from snorkelling round reefs it was the best thing we did.

That sounds amazing mate, Phuket is at the back end of my trip so I'll see how I'm doing for time and more importantly funds by then ha. Much appreciated

Just looked it up and it looks like it's way over to the East so no chance I'll be able to fit it in in my 3 weeks. Hopefully next time though cheers mate, sounds boss.

Not really travel, but gotta go to Brighton next saturday. Anyone know anywhere I can park for 4/5 hours that's not gonna cost a load/free? Needs to be near/have easy/quick access to the Old Ship Hotel near the water.

Ta :)

We usually park at trafalgar steet car park. But I can't remember how much it costs annoyingly

Off through the balkans, turkey and greece next year for a month. Any recommendations?
Recently been to Belgrade, Mostar, Kotor and Budva (Montenegro) and Dubrovnik. Would deffo recommend the first 3 places. Loved them. I can take or leave Dubrovnik. The old town is very nice but the volume of tourists is a bit of a pain. I've heard it's great out of season though and it's pretty impressive to see. Report where you go mate. I would like to go back there at some point.

Just got in from work and the wife has surprised me with a trip to Hamburg next weekend to see my mate. Fly out Friday and home on the Monday. Going to watch St. Pauli at home on the Saturday morning.

Noted. I recall Dubrovnik being "the cool place to go" like 9-10 years ago, a counter to overcrowded Venice across the sea. Seems I missed that boat... /shakes fist at GOT.

Haha it’s probably just as bad as Venice now. Kotor is probably the new Dubrovnik now
