Bird knows me well, and has offered to take me away for my birthday.

She's offered me Krakow, Amsterdam, Vienna or Hamburg (really does know me well), but Amsterdam aside, i've never been to any of these places, so wondering if anyone's been?

Vienna is somewhere i've really wanted to visit, been to Salzburg and that was quite good, and heard good things, but i don't care, free holiday!
I went to Vienna when I was still at school - it was raining and I hated it. Boring city full of ring roads, I thought.

Back again decades later, with the sun shining, revised my opinion completely and really enjoy the infrequent visits now. Loads of culture and history and pretty lively if you are looking for clubs and music. If you liked Salzburg, you should really enjoy Vienna.

Hamburg has been on our list to visit for a while now.

Vienna is a poor night out compared to Bratislava though, but more to see in Vienna. Well worth visiting them both on the same trip.

Went to Hamburg recently, it is a great city. And we didn't even manage to make it to the Reiperbahn or the port, which tells you how much there is to keep you occupied.

Christ, that's about all I saw on a stag do a couple of years ago. You did well to avoid in all honesty, absolute dive even if it did serve a purpose for us.

Heading back to Le Touquet in March for a long weekend with the fam, tesco vouchers paying for half the eurotunnel, and £55 a night for a 3 bed house means the whole thing comes in at £220 for a family of 5. And it only takes 3 hours door-to-door!

The wife's cousin and her husband are off to Iceland later this week for a short break, day time temps predicted of -5 and lower, very brave people!
