I've just arrived into India, and Jaipur. There's a festival so I've certainly came at the right time.
There's a festival every day mate Good luck with Palace of the Winds, the Observatory and the Amber Fort.
Hoping to hit most of them tomorrow!
Amber Fort is a reasonable bus trip out into the middle of a very beautiful nowhere. It is worth making it right to the very top (quite a hike though).

By the way, my host is boss. Spent all day with me to ensure that I wasn't being scammed. Took me to a dealer last night to get alcohol as they stop selling booze you can drink on the streets at 8, and gave me a free dinner last night. Anyone who thinks that they would like to stop in Jaipur should stay at The Hosteller.
We stayed near the Pink City part, a guest house converted from an old mayarajah's palace. Nearby, there was a fantastic resturant that served you beer from a full china tea service, beer in the teapot, as alcohol sales weren't allowed in the city. We asked the waiter if they served beer, he said no we're not allowed to but we do serve tea! We were thinking do we really want tea with a spicy curry until we understood the nudge nudge wink wink going on from the waiter. Oh yes please, tea for all 4 of us! Now, who will be mother!
About one week left in my 5 week Argie Extravaganza.
Buenos Aires for a "work-cation" week was cool. A friend of mine and his wife made it down for their own Argie vacation, met up for Christmas full moon rooftop malbec and Cuban cigars.
Patagonia has been crazy. two weeks of constant go go go. El Calafate for a couple days, saw Perito Moreno Glaciar, then off to El Calafate (pop 1,100) for a cool 20km hike to a lake with a ridiculous view of Mount Fitz Roy. Shuffled on over to Puerto Natales, Chile for a couple days to visit the Torres del Paine national park. Finally did three days in Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world. It was 14 out... in their 4th of July weekend.
Currently halfway through two weeks of "cool-down" in Bariloche, a Germanic/Swiss feeling town nestled between the Andes and a big lake. Nice not to have to live out of a backpack and catch a flight or five hour busride every 72 hours.
Lots of steak. Lots of Patagonic Lamb. Lots of Malbec. Lots of microbrews... though most places in Argentine Patagonia have three flavors - Rubia (blonde), Roja (Red... Scotch ale? IPA some times... red others), and Negra (porterstouts).
