Looking for somewhere to go for a week in April with the Mrs and our youngest who's 14 and adventurous....at this point likely to be Cape Town or Sun City as we want somewhere with semi decent weather. Cuba is also on the list...anyone got any interesting recommendations? Cheers
Cuba is boss. You can do a few night or just a night in Havana if you stay in Varadero as its only ninety minutes away. Then you can have the beach holiday.

Long way to for just a week mind, would be eight nights as you overnight flight on the way back.

You could fly for an extra hour if you go all that way and stop in the Riviera Maya. Better hotels than Cuba, more to do for the 14 year old and Mayan sites to visit.

Weather is nice in Cyprus in April if you want somewhere closer to home with stuff to do.

anyone been to hawaii? going to the north shore for a couple of weeks, then a few weeks in paia, going next month, decent surf and all that, got a few mates in paia so sorted for that any tips for north shore would be welcome

I'm heading to the Philippines in a couple of weeks and staying for a month. Friend of mine from work is Filipino and every two years he goes back to the region where he grew up to help build/repair schools and community rec centres. We'll be doing that for one of the weeks, but the rest is all vacation -- snorkelling, catamaran trip in the western islands, inland treks (seeing stuff like the hanging coffins and 2,000-year-old rice fields still being used today). Cannot wait. Only down side is I don't know if I'll be anywhere neat a TV for the derby/League Cup final.

Cheers Chico...will have a look at them, but give Cyprus a miss. Done quite a bit of work in SA so likely to plump for that, but Cuba does sound fun. Spent a day in Little Havana near South Beach Miami in October and the flavour was good!

Looks great. Quite a trek to get there by the looks of it?
Fly from Delhi into bagdogra (sp?) airport and then a four hour taxi ride! Looking forward to it tbh as a week in Delhi is getting to me a bit so it'll be nice to have some R&R in the Himalayas!

Just got back from my holiday in Thailand and Vietnam.
Thanks to Etihad Airways being completely useless, we missed our connecting flight from Abu Dhabi back home so had to spend 24 hours there, landed at 6am this morning. To be fair they put us up in a five star luxury hotel with all food paid for, so not too bad.

Wasn't as overwhelmed by Bangkok as I was last time I was there, but it was still decent, and obviously the food was unreal.

Onto Chiang Mai - best part of the holiday. Did a thai cooking class, went to an elephant sanctuary, rode a moped around, night markets, great hotel, etc.

Ho Chi Minh. The Mrs got food poisoning so we missed 2.5 days thanks to that, but nice place. Wouldn't need to ever go back, though.

Hoi An, another good place which we enjoyed a lot more than Ho Chi.

Only problem now is that I have got the squits and have already been to the bog about 9 times in the last hour. Must have been something from the hotel in Dhabi.

ffs.
