next stop for us...

Will be a "work-cation" in Montevideo for me. Looking forward to checking it out.

Find the Porto Mercado indoor place (down by the port entrance) and treat yourself to a massive steak in there. Absolutely boss. Best I've ever had anywhere in the world.

A trip to the Centenario Stadium is a must; they do stadium tours which focus on the inaugural World Cup etc, and you get into the ground which is as ace as it is historic. We were lucky to get 2 games there in 2 days, the first of which was the championship final between Penarol and Defensor. The atmosphere was incredible.

So thinking of going away with my gf during May half term, and looking at Venice. What are people's thoughts/recommendations? Is it worth staying on the main land and travelling in each day? How much is there to see and do there?

If you decide against Vencie, highly recommend Palermo in Sicilly (South Italy). The weather in May will be beautiful and the place itself is incredible. Also not as big a tourist trap as Venice. Ryanair fly from Stansted for unbelievably cheap - especially if you just take hand luggage.

Thinking of holidays next winter, and in particular Thailand, does it look dodgy for a young single male to go there by himself? I've been looking at YouTube videos, this one in particular seems a bit dodgy with Western guys picking up local girls in Bangkok all the time. Btw check out the girl at 9:30. Lady boy or real?

We love Cala Bona in Majorca. Great restaurants right next to the sea. Egypt was good too. Went to a Bedouin camp where there was a radio telescope. Saw the moon like it was next door and even saw the rings of Saturn!

Paris was good, too. Got engaged there in 2002 and married in Gretna

ive been on my own a couple times, went on my own for my first trip. ended up having a year out there on me own 2010.

aslong as you are responsible you will be fine.

its all the idiotic plebs that end up in bother.

the thai people are fantastic, Thailand is known as the land of smiles for a reason.

its a great place to go too. I find Bangkok VERY busy tho. maybe a little too much at times. I tend to stay there for a night or 2 after arriving and then move on.

koh samui is a much quieter than Bangkok.. still lots to do and plenty of people about but nothing like Bangkok.

Pattaya is always fairly busy and you get a bit of everything there. there are around 10,000 bars in Pattaya and there is a great mix of people from all around the world. its an interesting place to say the least!

Phuket is much more for the couples I would say, a lot more chilled out than pattaya and Bangkok. Phuket is also full of Aussies as they can fly directly in.

theres a very quick account of how I find Thailand anyways..

yeah plenty.. they all get fried in loads of oil and inevitably you basically can just taste the oil!

don't be afraid to try the street food. its very very good.

the Thai's love their food and their whole way of life seems to revolve around food in one way or another.. its how they sociale together with food rather than like we do with a pint!
