Planning to do Florence, Rome and Naples for around 10/12 days in September with my gf. Never done Italy before. Anything I need to know.

Stayed in Florence for a week last year. Superb place.

One thing I would say is don't queue too long for the main tourist stuff. As pointed out by our hotel concierge, all of the churches were painted by the same guys around the same time. Just wander around and pop into any that take your interest.

This place https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Resta...ia_del_Cinghiale_Bianco-Florence_Tuscany.html is great.

If you get the chance, take a day trip out to Lucca on the train. A small town with a full circuit of mediavel walls that you can walk around. Superb.

Anyone able to explain the following to me?

July 19, 2017: business class ticket from Heathrow to Cape Town (return, direct) on BA is £4205 pp

Same date: Business class ticket from Amsterdam to Cape Town (return, indirect via Heathrow) on BA is £1859 pp

The indirect route changes planes at Heathrow.... and uses the same 21:30pm flight to Cape Town as the direct route. Same flight number, same plane. How on EARTH can it less than half the price to start the journey in Amsterdam?????

in simple terms, Price = Demand / Supply

or, there aren't many seats remaining on the leg you want to fly

Anyone ever been to Beirut? Thinking about going there around October time, after some advice on the best route to take.
Went there a great many years ago when in the Merchant Navy, 1974 in fact.
We had a day off and took a walk from the berth around the bay and paid to spend a day in the Hotel St. Georges. We lived the dream getting a bronzie alongside some of the most beautiful French lasses. The city itself was buzzing and despite Israeli jets flying low over the city, you wouldn't have known there was ongoing tension in the region.

Ive spent some time there recently. What info do you need?
Just the easiest route to take from the North West really, most transfer times I see are for around 15 hours due to a long wait for a transfer at a European airport.

A great City with lovely natives by all accounts. People think I'm taking the mick saying I want to go. The missus isn't too keen but I've always wanted to do a bit of travelling on my own so I may just head there later on in the year.

NYC on Thursday for two of my daughters birthdays....really looking forward to it. Always travel with Virgin on long haul or trans Atlantic because of the amount of air miles I have but giving BA a whirl this time purely because I love the old classic 747 Jumbo.
