His missus helps out too in fairness, once she’s finished with laying the hardcore and tarmacing the driveway.

Finding pair of boots that work for you can be a nightmare...some robbery going on in that area too, which doesn't help.
Got an older pair of lightweight Lowa's that need to be replaced but they're nice and worn, so it's tough to give them up until they reach the murder point. I've only had one pair that weren't tough to break in (Vasque) but that was over 20 years ago.
Hate buying new boots.
Cheers. I'm reasonably tooled up having done a few peaks in the Lakes/Snowdonia/Peaks. I even have an ace hat with a light on it! Going to take it easy and see how Ben Lomond goes. Hopefully get a few more in over the next few years...Seriously though. In addition to all the kit you need, ensure that you tell someone what route you’ll be taking and an estimated time of return. Carry a fully charged mobile phone with you ( I recommend it’s loaded with the “what 3 words app”).
For beginners I’d recommend some of the peaks near Loch Lomond or try Cairn gorm
The long route around the back via Goats Tarn is great.Coniston Old Man is a belting walk too, loads of different routes, so you can make it as easy or as hard as you want to.
With the added bonus of the wonderful hikers bar in the Sun Hotel if you start at the Coniston end.
Nice - make sure you share the photos when you top out.Cheers. I'm reasonably tooled up having done a few peaks in the Lakes/Snowdonia/Peaks. I even have an ace hat with a light on it! Going to take it easy and see how Ben Lomond goes. Hopefully get a few more in over the next few years...
Ticked a couple off in the Lakes recently with my kid - did Great End -Scafell Pike the other week - planned to tag on Sca Fell as well but the legs weren't up to it. My knees aren't actually bad day to day, never had an injury there, but they can feel pretty leathered on on the mountain descents. Great stuff but he's gone and broken his leg so we'll have to park it up for a good bit.
Not a mountain, but has anyone ever done the Morecambe bay sands walk? Was in the area recently and it looks like an awesome trek. The only thing is, apparently the sands have shifted so the old route which was right across the bay to Grange over Sands is no longer safe. So the guided walk with the Master of Sands goes from Arnside and you hug the coast more, doesn't look as impressive.
