Transfer Rumour Thiago Silva

We have loads of long term players. Like tons of them. Including 4 at centre back. Why can you not see this?
We genuinely don't. Players who are still improving and/or are good enough: Richarlison, DCL, Kean, Gordon, Gomes, Digne, Holgate. You might just be able to add Iwobi and Mina to that list. That isn't even an XI. But tons?

I assume the 4 at CB includes Gibson and Branthwaite but we don't even know that those are going to be good enough to play a single PL game. And while I like that we are bringing in players like that, it doesn't mean you can start signing two year players to hold it down until they get there. They are basically where DCL was when we signed him and he has just made it 3 years later.

Gbamin? Mina would absolutely be on that list, I assume we are just jibbing Davies off at the ripe old age of what, 21? Then you have Adeniran etc coming through.

We are not "starting to sign two year players though are we?" if he was to sign (and there is no indication to me that he is..) it would be ONE signing, a player who was/is one of the best in world football who the manager has worked with before and has leadership.

Mina and Holgate's development could easily be stunted by bringing in a player of the same age as them and then when the two young lads are able to show what they can do their path is blocked as well.

I think you are majorly overthinking this. If we end up signing a bunch of washed up galacticos then fair enough but there is no indication that that will happen.

Allan is on the list of possible signings too.

I have no idea what stage of development Gbamin is in, so I left him off. Davies was a legit oversight and I am not writing him off. So you can put him on the list. Adeniran isn't in the first team picture as far as I can tell so that is no different than Gibson or Branthwaite.

If for example it is Gabriel who comes in and takes minutes from those two that isn't good for them on a personal level, but for us as a club it is fine as the minutes are still going to someone with a longer term future.

Is Gabriel as good as Thiago now? I'm not even sure he is better than Mina (who I don't think has done much wrong personally...)

I could understand your viewpoint a bit more more if Keane goes but then we would be looking at two centre backs and I am still happy with one of them being Thiago.

I just think given our resources it isn't a good move. We get him for two years and he might be really good for those two years, but how much will that matter for us in terms of league position and winning trophies? How far can a CB push us? My feeling is not very far, and that makes it ultimately a wasteful move. We waste playing time for the players who could be here longer and we waste money paying his wages.

I really don't know if Gabriel is better right now, I'd suspect it might not be as big a gap as some people think because Silva is on the down slope, but I know who I'd take in three years. And personally I think any signing that isn't making us better in 3 years is probably not the right one at this moment.

This is proper madness.

Next you will be saying we shouldn't sign a CM in case they stunt Tom Davies progress.

Madness lad.

Who is a comparable center mid? Modric? Honestly no, I would not sign Luka Modric right now. He's one of my favorite players ever, but I just don't see it progressing the club toward being competitive for the CL and trophies.

And that isn't to say we might not be close for a year or two. But players aren't stupid, and they'll see that as temporary if it is Silva doing the work and still not sign here.

So if we signed Modric, Silva, CR7, Zlatan and Sergio Ramos, you don't think we would be competitive?

I think it would might be really fun for a season and then we'd be done. And that is still a maybe because I've seen the slip in Modric, Ramos and Zlatan at a minimum. Silva I don't know because I don't watch PSG stomp on farmers, and CR7 definitely had a dry spell this year that hasn't happened in years. Age is undefeated.

Boy you talk some shiz fella.

Absolute Top Draw player is available ,with a very good chance he will come here.

But no , you think thats a bad move as we should be in for someone that might or might not blossom in 3 years.

I not sure if you are a complete wind up or you just dont know football at all.
