TBF that was as good a defence as she could have come up with - I mean, within living memory we have had the Bristol Heart scandal (which no-one was jailed for), Mid-Staffs (which no-one was jailed for) and what went on at East Kent (which everyone was jailed for*).

It's an interesting one. I'd assume she has been assessed in that case. Curious to know if it is standard procedure in such cases? Does the defendent have to agree to evaluation? Who initiates an evaluation?

I would estimate that both sides woulds have looked at this being a possibility, she is certainly a case that defies the norm in many aspects. There seems to be no discernible motive.

…..I don’t think there’s many still at the hospital, I understand one has retired.

I dare say the families will sue the hospital but there has to be criminal proceedings against those that allowed this to happen.

Sounds like it was the clinicians who raised the alarm. The managers wanted all this to just go away. They are the ones who should be up for some form of prosecution.

Get the sense these very little love lost between management and clinicians in a lot of settings.

I shared it because there are some details that are incredibly damning in my view - her removing critical care documents and falsifying records.

But, I understand the frustration that she was able to avoid the sentencing. I think either face it or have it played at intermittent intervals throughout your time.

This is going to run and run. I think it's quite possible the murders she's been tried and sentenced for are just the tip of the iceberg.
