From The Independent:

"Tuchel's biggest problem is that the players, so often on the coach's side in these disputes, are also against him. The 43-year-old's assistant, an old-school disciplinarian by the name of Rainer Schrey, was so hated by the squad that he was asked to leave the club this summer - the only question, now emphatically answered, was whether Tuchel would follow him."

From the Mail:

"This weekend, Sahin was once again at the heart of a dispute, after Tuchel left him out of the squad for the final. The decision was openly criticised by other players after the game, even as Dortmund celebrated their first title in five years.

'When Julian Weigl is injured, Nuri is the only one who can really replace him properly in defensive midfield,' said captain Marcel Schmelzer.

'It really shocked me, I didn't understand it at all. The coach would have to explain why he did it. We all completely stand behind Nuri.'

With such open criticism from his own captain just hours after the cup triumph, Tuchel must have already begun to pack his bags."

Doesn't sound purely board related to me.

Sounds like a player who knew he was gone Brown nosing the CEO to me, strange they won the cup without the irreplaceable sahin as well.

What do you make of it all Nymz? Who should we get?

I am sitting slap bang on the fence with this one. My ideal plan is give Unsworth till Christmas, evaluate as we go along but also sound out some other managers. If he's doing great at Christmas extend it till the end of the season. If he's not then we get someone else in from the following list (no order):

- Mancini
- Marco Silva
- Tuchel (not a huge fan)
- Marcelino
- Gary Megson

Personally I'd just be delighted if Unsworth could pull it off but I'm skeptical - it's an enormous leap especially without a pre-season.

ffs.

Dortmund fan I know on another forum reckons he is an absolute mentalist who will without question fall out with multiple players within a season.

Him and Ancelotti ar ether two I'd move Unsworth on for.

For me this guy is our man. We are trying to build a set up whereby we utilise young players, rather alike Dortmund. This fella has done that his whole career and has in fact managed Dortmund successfully.

His emphasis on youth development will fit it well with what we are looking to do not just with Unsworth but also via Walsh.

He is also used to being successful as an underdog, which will suit him down to the ground. It would shift the entire focus of the fans if we got him (the same as getting Ancelotti) and would probably be the real Eureka moment we've been waiting for under Moshiri. I think we might actually win a derby as well!

We can't play with a high line because of the lack of pace, even with Holgate in there. Baines is an utter slug but he's our only left back so he has to play, and we don't have any quick midfielders who can make up ground and cover when the opposition counter attack.

Besides that though mate...

From the sounds of it, we need to stay well clear of this guy. Too many our fans thinking he is Klopp MK2. Sounds the total opposite.

Just don't see unsworth as being deemed ready just yet mate, like to see him in an assistant role first and then cut his teeth at a championship club, hrs basically got one chance ever at the job, and hate to see him fail the way Harvey did.

Love to see tuchel come in, a manager who I believe would really value the work unsworth does and foster the bringing through of the best younger players at the club. Ideal scenario is tuchel gets the job, really pushes us on, unsworth as assistant but by tuchels choice and then in 3-4 years steps up to the job when tuchel is head hunted by Bayern.

I think to keep Unsworth he'd have to have a very senior role in the first team, ideally as Assistant Manager. It's not that unrealistic, especially if Unsworth gets off to a flyer.
