Nope - the huge warning signs where there all along from Koemans past - both at Valencia and Benfica most notably

Tuchel has one blemish which is being sacked by Dortmund and it had nothing to do with the teams performance but all about the CEO and him having major disagreements.

Koeman by and large lived of a huge playing reputation, and most of the links to big jobs came from his side, with Tuchel he has earned his reputation as a very good young coach, and the links with him to big jobs come from that.

My reading of the situation was he was very unhappy at players leaving. Dortmund have quite a strict model of selling players on a rolling basis and interesting they went for Ajax's manager. He won't have to sell as often with us, so it's no bad thing for us.

He would be a perfect fit for what we are trying to do with Walsh, Unsworth and the academy side of things. He is not of the class of Ancelotti (Only 2 or 3 are) but he fits perfectly the general plan of the club, which you can't underestimate after the chaos of last summer.

What he did at Mainz was equivalent of what Moyes did at us or what Dyche has done at Burnley. However taking Dortmund from the mess they were left in under Klopp to having consecutive top 3 finishes, at a time when Bayern where back to their dominant best is not small feat.

I like Silva at Watford, but he has done it for less time than Tuchel and could still be a flash in the pan. This fella seems very well suited to Everton. It would also be a bit of a Eureka moment for Moshiri.

Makes no sense, why didn't they just give it to him once they binned Ancelotti?

I think on the BBC European Football Show Podcast, Raphael Honigstein said that two of the Bayern board members could not agree on who to appoint. One wanted Tuchel and then the other didn't but i think they said the Hoffenheim manager most likely at the end of the season.

Not quite as straightforward as it seems: Nagelsmann (Hoffenheim wonderkid) has reportedly been told Bayern is his. If this is true, it would explain why Tuchel has today said he is open to Everton's interest. He wants to manage in the Prem and if Bayern is out of his reach...
He could quite easily have closed the door today, if he was not at least interested in what we have to offer.
