But why didnt they appoint the Hoffenheim coach then?

Maybe, MG, they know they're good enough to hand it off to someone the players and fans can get behind until the summer. He can assess the players feelings towards new bosses and relay that to the board, helping the decision process.

From that, they choose the man and said man gets a full pre-season to implement his ideas on the squad instead of doing it during a league, Pokal and Champions League campaign.

That or the apparent board being unable to choose between Tuchel and Nagglesman.

From memory, Hoffenheim didn't want to allow him to go mid season, and Bayern where willing to wait and watch him another season in the league, as Hoffenheim are doing good again then guess they will be happy

Bayern have a history of wanting something and not killing themselves to push it through early, bit like them signing Dortmund players mid season to arrive the next summer a few times.

I think its cos of the doubts they have on the Hoff coach, they want to make sure he isnt a flash in the pan.

This.

Also, having a 31-year-old possibly come in and take over Germany's biggest club is causing some friction anyway.

As you say, to do it in a period of relative turmoil (compared to what Bayern normally have) for the club, isn't going to be helpful if things go badly.

I'd back that MG. Heynckes more or less said the same when he took over and was asked about him.

Add this into it and you probably have your answer when it comes to Nagelsmann.

Yep, which is why they went with the old guard they know will bring them success.

Tuchel would be another long-term appointment, just like Nagelsmann.

Which is why it would be a hard sell to Tuchel for us I think.

If he knows come summer that he's going to have a 50/50 shot at Bayern, then he may well want to wait.

But if we can push the idea of being among the elite managers in the Prem, at the biggest club of the 'rest' outside the top six, then it's doable since there's no guarantee on that Bayern job - especially with Hoffenheim doing well again.

IF, IF he comes, he defo comes with a Bayern release clause, but personally I cant see it, maybe he has his eye on the vermin job when Plopp gets the bullet.

Sorry for my English - I just signed up in order to write a comment on Tuchel.

I`ve watched his Mainz side for 4 years and later Dortmund during his reign. Not once did I have the impression that the players were playing "against him". In fact his teams reached the clubs` objectives every single season he was in charge of them - and usually overachieved. At the end of his time at Dortmund the club launched a media offensive against him in order to discredit him in the eyes of the Dortmund fans, because otherwise they wouldn`t have understood why they got rid of him. The problem at Dortmund was that certain players with a big name (because of things they`ve achieved 4 or 5 years ago) were treated the same way as 17 year-olds from their youth academy. IMO that is one of his strengths. Everybody had to earn his spot - and some well-established players didn`t like this. Players like Pulisic, Dembele, Aubameyang, Mikhytarian, etc loved Tuchel - others like Sahin, Schmelzer, Reus didn`t.

IMO Tuchel is a far better coach than Klopp - but he is not the type a guy who will fully embrace a club`s identity/fans/culture etc. He is only focused on his job.
Thus spoke Zarathustra.

I think we have a good chance Goat, if he's our no.1 target.

He may well not even be on the list, but I think the way that we acted over Koeman suggests that something happened on Sunday/Monday that indicated someone would be more than willing to take the job (which isn't really saying much, as there's loads out there that would). But given Moshiri's desire for a 'name', it'd suggest it's someone relatively established/big.

That being said, clearly we're also willing to take our time on this (not too much time, like) and trust Unsworth.

If it means getting through the next four games and making a final appointment during the international break, so be it.

This has to be the right call.

Klopp has one of those as well hasn't he?

NEA - Bayern want your manager then your losing him anyway - especially if he's German

I'd guess that any manager taking over wouldn't want to until the international break anyway - least that way he gets at least some time with the players - right now we are basically one training session between games until then

true, though if any deal was done I'd imagine all parties would want it wrapped up and announced quickly, even if it meant them watching on from the stands at Leicester or whatever and then taking over before Lyon

I don't foresee a permanent appointment until after November 5th, though.

I guess that is the reason I want Unsworth to succeed.
There is simply no bigger club in the world for him than Everton. This isn't a job, it is an honour.

If he achieved unbelievable feats here he would not have his head turned by a Real or a Bayern as an outsider would.
He wants to make Everton the very best. As we all would.
