No offence to either you or Cahill but how are we quantifying him doing 'very well' here?Hes doing he role very well for Eupen and Aspire academy.

Just re-read up on the different roles based on your post, love the idea of him being CEO and in control overall. If we got Lampard in, the only spot left would be the DoF, also seemingly called the sporting director. Ashworth would be the best I can think of too.Cahill looks far more like a CEO in waiting rather than a DOF. He has spoken openly about having a passion for business and he has worked extensively, both in his playing and post-playing career, to build himself a huge network across several continents. His business and commercial acumen would be completely wasted as a DOF, which requires a different skill set altogether. As shown by Steve Walsh, not even a highly thought of scout is able to bring enough to enough to the table. Someone like Dan Ashworth I think would be a far more suitable appointment for that position if we were to go back down that route.
A Cahill - Ashworth - Lampard chain of command is incredibly appealing to me, all young progressive appointments. Probably far too progressive for this dumb as rocks club though.
Cahill was playing the game at a high level with and against players who are currently at an age where they will be moving into influential positions in football.I love the guy and don't quite understand his credentials but to be our DoF you need experience and lots of contacts.

Having played for Australia he should also have contacts in that part of the world.
He should have both experience and contacts.
I would guess he is sitting in on the interviews today.
I'd be happy if he gets his feet under the table firstCahill looks far more like a CEO in waiting rather than a DOF. I was looking into what he's done since retiring and I've been impressed.El Bobble said the other day the Cahill was going to be involved in the review process. So could just be he's on the interview panel.
I think it would be fine if he worked in DBB's office for a few months whilst she finds her next position, something she is rumoured to be doing. I think if we found ourselves in a scenario were Cahill was taking over her job in the summer - along with a new Director of Football/Technical Director installed - I think a lot of fans that are completely disillusioned with how rudderless the club is at the moment could get behind a restructuring like that.I'd be happy if he gets his feet under the table first
