I agree with this.

I honestly don't think Robles is of any value going forward. I am just not convinced by anything that i have seen so far. Could he have a break out year ? At 24 years old he is still at a very good age to prove the doubters (including myself) wrong. For me though if we are going to spend money on a new keeper, it simply has to be a keeper that WILL not only challenge Howard next season but will then take over full control and claim the No1 shirt for the 2016/17 season.

For me though if we are going to spend money on a new keeper, it simply has to be a keeper that WILL not only challenge Howard next season but will then take over full control and claim the No1 shirt for the 2016/17 season.

Anything over circa £2M gets a keeper better than Howard and immediately ready to replace him not challenge him. I'm saying lets do it and save 15 points in one transfer move.

@Dithering Dougie is right though, as far as the team goes there's other areas we're going to improve and need to improve. We're not Man City, we don't have a ton of cash. We need to replace him but I can't see it happening.

Robles never paid off - Doug he kept three clean sheets commanded his area looked good, the Defence looked better on crosses, the was no gamble to unfairly drop him!

Joey we both know Howards the number 1, like at every other club when there's such a gulf in quality between the first choice keeper and his understudy they'll always walk back into the first team when fit and available.

Robles did nothing outstanding in his short spell to warrant retaining his place over a superior talent.

I liked Nigel Martyn a lot when he was our No1. In Everton's greatest ever season in the premier league, Martyn was our keeper. He managed to keep 11 clean sheets in the league. Who has the record for number of clean sheets for Everton in prem history ?

In all his time here Howard has played with a back four a million times better than the one Martyn had. Nigel single-handedly saved us from relegation in Moyes' 2nd season.

but we most likely only have the funds for a few quality decent money signings so I just feel it's a less pressing need than say a new CB
