TIM HOWARD THOUGH

Underwhelmed to be honest by his performances over many seasons. Rarely did he produce a performance that won us important points - in fairness however his penalty saves against Utd in 2009 were stellar - but in my mind they were the exception rather than the norm.

I'd say at his best he was competent but not top drawer by the margins keepers are judged. He was by all accounts a huge personality in the dressing room and ripped to hell. I thought he was a decent enough shot stopper but poor in one on ones and not the best at taking deep crosses into the box. Like other keepers prone to a howler or two - remember Blackburn away, first game of the season when he spilled one. Too many occasions like that for my liking.

Sounds as though I'm harsh, I'm actually not. He was what he was and what we paid for - clearly a good guy and speaks well of his time here. I think he should have been moved on earlier than he was but he was seen as integral by Martinez and that loyalty was probably misplaced when Joel had shown early promise.

Never a legend but part of our recent history and deserves respect for helping stabilise us during an indifferent period.

Thought he done a good job for us however he often got caught off his line and never really won us many games. But lets be honest he was a lot better than most of the Goalkeepers
Windy as, dreadful night that

He was a decent keeper but not a match winner!!! but they are hard to find
