TIM HOWARD THOUGH

I don't get the hate for the guy? Yes he stayed on too long, but to say he was a useless keeper is just bizarre? Third highest ever number of clean sheets for an Everton keeper and if you compare his clean sheets against appearances, he measures up in that respect to big Nev?

Before the hysteria begins, I am in no way comparing his quality to Southall's, but a crap keeper just doesn't keepmthat many clean sheets, regardless of how good a defence he might have in front of him? So I was glad when he went, but he was a good keeper for us for most of his career and doesn't deserve these levels of vitriol.

He has always been crap IMO... and comparing clean sheets? Yes his figures may add up but.... I honestly can remember one game when I thought afterward " How saved us today" that was a 0-0 against Spurs... his number of clean sheets is higher than most of our Keepers becuase he was here ten years.. I couldn't tell you how many times I have thanked god that nev was in goal... I remember martyn being similar 0-0 derby I think was the best none southall goal keeper performance I have ever seen.... even stek has had me thinking "wow" 'more times than Howard did in ten years (city and Spurs games) even Robles has earned us more points last season and this than Howard did In ten years....

Add into the fact that Howard seems to think he's amazing and seems to be arrogant and a bit of a knob... means I really don't like him and never have..

Even last year when he was injured and Robles played and kept a clean sheet ... southall tweeted " good performance ... not one star jump in sight" Howard was a bottom have keeper all his career IMO

I have to say by the end I hated the guy. It was;t his fault though, it was poor management, holding back a far superior younger goalkeeper because of Howard's presence in the dressing room.

That being said Howard seems to genuinely get and love the club. They are lovely words and I hold no ill will against him. As with most Everton ex players I would applaud him if he came back. The club needs to use people like Howard better as well. Other clubs have started doing this, and our players develop a close connection with the club. When he retires they need to get him involved in some way or other. He do wonders for our press relations in America. Players like him, Cahill, Peinaar, Donavan the club should be making big efforts with to help us grow our brand.

It was a massive relief when this utter clown finally left us.
Think the anger should be directed at 'the clown' who continued to pick him when it was apparent to all that his his form had dipped alarmingly in his last 18 months with us. However it won't cloud by judgement that prior to this period, Howard was extremely competent keeper if not a great one.

Looked amazing when the opposition peppered the goal and hit loads of shots at him, but never ever came up with crucial saves late in games when we needed it most. From 2011/12 onwards he was a genuine embarrassment of a keeper as well, among the very worst in the league.

I blame Martinez for the abuse Howard took. He was past his best playing behind a shakbolic defence. In his prime with us he was a very good keeper, now he seems to be a real Evertonian who gets the club, absolutely no need to knock him now. He should be remembered for the years of good service he gave us. After Southall and Martyn he's our best premier league keeper.

Bearing in mind the competition for that accolade, is that saying much?

Got a phone call from the Prez of the States, what have you fat lot ever achieved?

At last some decent fans who recognise a good player who was also a quality blue !

He was a good shot stopping keeper in his prime. He played on too long and was exposed. Was a good servant to the club, just all went a bit pear shaped towards the end.
A lesson for all good professionals, don't ruin your legacy by over staying your welcome.

Couldn't jump, didn't command his box, rubbish distribution, terrible decision making, struggled with shots from distance.

Baffled anyone thinks he was decent for us. Hindered Robles' progression because Martinez kept playing him after he had been out even though Joel had done well.

Not sure if he is a nice fella. He seems it in that interview, but he has also come out with things that make him sound like a bad bell whiff (post Bournemouth AKA the Lonsdale draw).
