Tim Howard

His stock is extremely high over there, especially from a commercial point of view

Hmm I'm not so sure about that, the majority of the "fans" who watched the World Cup have probably moved back to their regular sports, to be kind most of them (from what I read at the time) didn't understand the rules but just got caught up in organised World Cup fever. For example are sales of MLS seasons tickets up? Did average attendances rise?

He's playing in the top league in the world, for one of the biggest clubs in the league his exposure is already at its maximum, he'll command more money from sponsorship in this league than the MLS due to its world wide appeal.

Watched a show on a yank money network show and they said he commercially could be the biggest star in the MLS. The sponsorship he could command over there would dwarf anything he;d ever get from being everton goalkeeper.

Around the new year when he was included in the top 50 most influencial americans list by the verge

Well I doubt Steve G will be happy to think Howards the draw card of the MLS or David Villa for that matter.

Anyway again like I've said previously Howards stated he's not interested and Martinez has also said he's going nowhere.

I realise you're hanging out to get rid of Howard but I can't see it happening this summer, we're not going to go with bring in another young inexperienced goalkeeper and have him compete with Robles for the number 1 spot after Martinez has clearly showing a lack of faith in Joel.

He's here for at least another year probably more, Martinez has said as much, Howard stated he's has no desire to move to the MLS and it's very unlikely any team over there will offer the sort of money that would persuade us to change our minds.

You may as well except this because it'll be easier in the long run!

Howard is tripe and we're in big trouble if he's still our goalkeeper when he's 38

Over here, USA international football is all the football (we call it soccer of course) most Americans know, and Tim Howard is the player most well known. That's why a player like Mike Bradley commands 7-10 million US here while only 1-3 million euro over there. Howard would become the biggest draw in MLS. Maybe in MLS history, though we did fancy the shell of Beckham you Brits sent over.

Had a little laugh at the MOTM shouts in here, anything he saved he should of saved easily but he made a couple of them look like hard work like Remy's header and the cross that Hazard nearly go a toe to. I've said for a long time he's massively overrated it's about time Blues started to realise it.

Howard's been a good player for us overall but anyone who fails to see how utterly dirge he's been this season needs their eyes testing. Martinez made a massive mistake last night putting him back in. I think that persisting with the likes of Howard and Barry could see the tide turn on Martinez.

But with him taking this self imposed hiatus from international football will anyone be bothered to go to MLS games just to see Tim Howard in goal? If he's out of the spot light and as you say international football is soccer over there would they be bothered to go and watch a goalkeeper stand around for 90 minutes?

They might go for comedic purposes to watch him flap about and occasionally fall backwards into his own goal

I don't know that anyone goes to any match just to see a single player. But I and the circles I run in over here don't go to matches for the same reasons typical yanks do. We would rather go to the International Cup pre-season matches than a typical MLS game. Though the MLS games can be good fun. My guess is Howard would be quite the draw and should command the highest salary in the league over here. Keeper is the one position that Americans understand- block the ball however you need to. The rest is mostly lost- though we are getting better.

I assure you though, that Howard is not thought of as flappy or clumsy by the average USA fan who only sees him perform 7 times a year. Especially while the rest of our players are busy chasing the ball around the pitch until someone thumps one off either of our bald keepers.

Can you imagine had that gone in? He almost kicked it directly to Howard, who instead of lunging forward 5 feet, waited for the potluck of which direction it would leave Hazard's foot. I thought the header was well saved.
