God help us if we have to put up with him for another season or two
I agree he is given to the odd howler, but we just aren't in a financial position to direct funds toward a new keeper. The Lukaku deal probably splurged nearly two windows worth of transfer monies and I cannot see Bill giving RM more than 10-15million max (probably mostly from sales eg Mirallas). Think this would be better spent elsewhere. There has been a lot of talk about Cleverley coming and whilst I think he's a damn good player, I am not certain he has the creativity that I think we need (and so we can rest Naismith occasionally).

Think Nyland wouldve been third choice. Then Howard pisses off in the summer.

I realise you're hanging out to get rid of Howard but I can't see it happening this summer, we're not going to go with bring in another young inexperienced goalkeeper and have him compete with Robles for the number 1 spot after Martinez has clearly showing a lack of faith in Joel.

He's here for at least another year probably more, Martinez has said as much, Howard stated he's has no desire to move to the MLS and it's very unlikely any team over there will offer the sort of money that would persuade us to change our minds.

You may as well except this because it'll be easier in the long run!

A new GK is only important if management can come up with real quality. Pointless getting another "on his day" entertainer.

First off, id be quite furious is he only got that much to spend. There has to be at least 30 mil minimum, theres simply no excuse especially since the new tv deal was announced so they know there coming into mad money in future years.

2nd, Howards not made the odd howler, hes made several, once again a few routine saves in 1 match cloud peoples judgments, he has no command of his area, poor distribution, has stupid brainfarts like bringing people down or running out to meet the ball when he has no right too. Hes cant be counted on. Cost us too many points. And fair enough if people dont believe Joel is the man we're looking for, we have to go out and buy a suitable player, no excuses not to.

But we know almost certainly they WILL come up with every excuse in the book.

Well we're destined for another poor season next year if hes still first choice

It would be stupid not to try and get the money for him while his stock is still high over there, we cant be sentimental like we were with the likes of cahill.

Didn't play badly but could/should have saved the goal. Still think Joel was harshly treated in being dropped and I have been a big fan of Howard over the years.

I think Bill will be keeping tight purse strings for the next few seasons so as to fund the new stadium

so do i , as harsh it may be however i think Howard proved Roberto's decision to do so right last night. With hindsight i'm glad Roberto has shown us that he has a ruthless streak when it comes to selections.

Is his stock high over there? Would a club signing a 35 year old goalkeeper create any waves? We'd be looking for a good sum to deviate from a plan that's probably been in place for the last 18 months, but who'd offer it? And again Howards said he doesn't want to play over there in the pensioner league.

His stock is extremely high over there, especially from a commercial point of view
