As soon as he was pulled up in his press conference about this, he said "well there's a little more to it than that, I have to teach Tim the nuts and bolts of the PL" and went on to describe every single thing he will work on defensively. Nothing about offensive coaching, just running off the ball, positioning off the ball, closing lines off the ball.

He was rattled when he was asked the question and I found his answer quite alarming about Branthwaite and Tim.

Hysteria died down yet? We’re rock bottom and we’ve got a kid who’s played less than 15 games as our linchpin in midfield.

Entirely understandable he’s going to have a lot to learn. Hopefully Mangala takes some of the responsibility (didn’t think he looked great) but the expectation and pressure after three alright games was mental.

Prospect, tidy on the ball at times. A LOT to learn about premier league footy.
 
Did OK today but felt the occasion got to him. Still win his battle against Obama though. He will be pleased to have got that game out the way and look forward to see him back to the Bournemouth game next time out.

Didn’t think he played well at all, looked lightweight on the ball and he got bypassed.

Needs to learn when and how to press properly, needs to know when to keep his shape.

Gana isn’t a good partner though, he just presses endlessly - leaves too many gaps in a 2.

The midfield is another massive worry for us. Our options there are so bloody average…gana looks like he’s gone old overnight.

Garner should play over Gana most matches. Would provide some cover for the CBs instead of two midfielders who essentially want to do the same thing.
