Titanic Tourist Submarine Goes Missing

I've seen this argument a few times... how is it 'silly'? people have been diving down to see the Titanic for years and this has been the first notable incident of a missing manned sub that's been reported.

If had the dough I know I'd personally seriously consider a trip to space, which extremely few people on this planet can even dream of, the same as diving to see the Titanic. Does that make me 'silly'?

If you were going into space you wouldn't decide to take the budget option with a patchy service history. And if you did yes you would be silly.

These are not the mirs that have had a proven track record.

It makes you worthy of dying apparently

I hope they are found. I don’t think they will be. Probably best if it imploded would have killed them all instantly. Sitting around in the dark in your own pee and poo no toilet on the submersible waiting to run out of air is a horrible way to go stuff of nightmares.

Who has said that? I think 99.9% are willing them to be found safe and well. But these people knew the risks and went in eyes wide open that they were effectively test pilots and were hanging their asses way out there. Compare that to the hundreds of kids that apparently drowned in that migrant ship disaster that had little choice to why they were there and were failed badly by numerous people and authorities. For that I have utmost reverence for and wouldn't make any kind of joke about the situation, this I can understand the injection of humour but all said if and when we hear the news most will be respectful of the fallen. Let's hope for their sakes we don't have to have find out.

I'd suggest the wealthy individuals on question are less dumb, but are thrill seeking risk takers.

It is frustrating because they've put themselves in thst situation, but you can't deny them help. It's really not ethical.

I've always figured a lot of wealthy people have perhaps got wealthy by making risks/chasing adrenaline.

When they've achieved everything - they still need that adrenaline kick and take silly risks.

That's the only way I understand why they decided to get in that metal coffin.

Whether they're ever found. Whether they're dead or alive. If it was up to me all costs would be recovered from their estate. They were so entitled to take that risk - the state shouldn't have to pay.

Often thought the same towards people who drink drive and then crash etc but then that's another debate entirely. Do stupid stuff, pay for it.

Yeah, I actually cut down my original post. Fully agree on the risk taking nature of high fliers.

There's a whole seperate debate about personal responsibility and who should cover costs for health related stuff. Some argue smokers with cancer don't deserve treatment, whih I find uncomfortable. But yeah, in this case they should be billed for the costs. It's the "they're wealthy so eff em" line I don't get.
