I agree mate and the still photo is completely deceiving. I re - watched and still think that's a very soft red

Definite red and it’s turned the game as WBA will have had tails up getting level, now they are more than likely out the game at 3-1

Was harsh but the player had no need to not keep his legs tucked in. Not malicious, a bit reckless at worst.

1. Because it shows what happened; and
2. That is a most unnatural position to try to get yourself up from the ground. Particularly with an opponent next to you that close.

Or are you seeing something totally different and innocuous...?

There aren’t any soft reds when it comes to things like that in modern football.

- There are no soft kick outs - it’s a red.
- There are no soft headbutt/motioning with the head - it’s a red.
- There are no legal tackles from behind even if you win the ball - it’s a foul.

It might suck, it might grate on the older generation but it’s just the rule now.
