Like a player who 'picks a up a niggle' and will miss the game - no niggle he got dropped

It’s too easy to create a narrative these days mate. If I’m wrong then I take it back, these referees , there is nothing amiable about most of them and it’s quite staggering that a job like that seems to be infallible to critical repercussions most of the time from employers.

There are many more jobs in the world far tougher than being a football referee.

Because it was a complete accident ?
So that makes it ok? And also are we sure? I mean Soucek is saying it was but how many times have players come out and said "screw that guy I was trying to break his eye socket?"

For me an elbow to the face is an elbow to the face. I find it wild that it is being justified.

No it doesn't make it ok and I didn't say it does. But it's still definitely an accident in my view and most others and a free kick for Fulham would in my view been the correct decision. No drama's chill a bit, he definitely wasn't trying to break his eye socket. lol

But this is exactly the problem. People just want to throw the rulebook out and decide on what they feel is right.

And refereeing intent is the most ludicrous thing I've ever seen. That crap needs to go. Judge the action that happened and don't try to read minds.

Dear me, you are far too serious, that was never intentional, you could see it a mile off, look at it again, your just being your pedantic old self and I'm wasting my time trying to explain it to you, good day sir.

I've looked at it a number of times and genuinely I can't tell whether or not Soucek meant it because I can't read Soucek's mind.

You don't have to read his mind, haha, you can see he's lost track of his marker and it is a natural movement to turn and get into position. Should we just agree to disagree ?
On this incident sure, but on the larger point do you really think having referees trying to read intent is a good thing? I don't get it with handballs and I don't really think it is a good idea with stuff like this either. You really can't ever be sure what the guy is meaning to do.

See where your coming from, a lot of it is conjecture, but if referee's used common sense with decisions and not use the letter of the law, I feel football would be a lot happier place. Look there are intentional elbows and accidental ones, I will not change my mind on that being an accidental one, it looked bad because it caught him full in the face, but when the striker got up he pleaded the innocence of Soucek himself. All's he had to do was punish West ham with a free kick against them, common sense, then the full time whistle could have been blown, end of.

Then honestly what is the point of having the laws anymore if we're not actually required to follow them in the name of some type of common sense? That's why I can't get behind the whole idea. You kind have to have rules or not. It isn't really fair to sometimes just say the rule doesn't apply here because he didn't mean it or whatever.

One of the biggest gripes with me is the lack of consistency with refs and decisions. Just seen the sending off for Hendricks for Newcastle. Pulled a player back and got a 2nd yellow, Greenwood did it on James and wasnt carded.
That's meant to be the most straightforward card too. There isn't any ambiguity about that, he pulled him back to stop a move. I yell at my tv regardless of who is affected when I see that.
