I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve heard commentators state “defenders don’t know what he’s going to do, he doesn’t know what he’s going to do” in reference to black players. St Maxim in our game now, Niasse, Zaha, Bolasie. I can’t honestly ever recall a commentator saying it about a white player.

The implication is that they don’t have the football intelligence to plan how they’re going to take on a defending player which in itself is a ridiculous statement like a player can know how they’re going to go past a man before the situation presents itself. They need to stop making such idiotic statements

I can’t say I ever watched him play to be honest mate, a bit telling if he’s the only person we can think of it’s been said about that isn’t black from an era so few black players played in top flight football
