Yes, and all of those are wrong but here, specifically in this case, a professional pundit said something quite ridiculous and has been pulled up on it. Nothing else. Leeds response did not mention gender and it is impossible to say whether they would or wouldn’t have responded in exactly the same way had the pundit spouting that nonsense was a man. Criticise the follow on tweets by all means if they are in any way misogynistic or abusive but the Leeds one wasn’t and they surely have a right of reply.
They do, but they also have a large platform and do bear some responsibility for the responses it creates. Personally I wouldn’t want Everton doing this to any pundits as it’s a bit childish and stinks of ladbible at best.

So it’s the manner of the response that offends rather than the principle?

Not necessarily, I’d argue it’s more the fact that it’s A. An incredibly petty thing to do for a premier league club. And B. Was always going to provoke this kind of response as virtually any mention of women in football gets met by this kind of response.

It’s a case of cause and effect. Leeds can, and seemingly have doubled down on it, personally I think doubling down on it and not apologising and removing the tweet, despite the vile abuse it’s caused is tasteless.

Whether intentionally or not, those tweets have caused KC horrific abuse and Leeds should recognise this and maybe apologise and not do it in future.

Fulham's Premier League match at Tottenham on Wednesday has been called off because of new coronavirus cases at the west London club.

The fixture was due to kick-off at 18:00 GMT at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

So, in future KC (usually an excellent pundit) and other female pundits could, on rare occasion, say something equally ridiculous (not because they are women, but because they are mistaken, ill informed or any number of things a male pundit could equally be) and no response (from the offended party) would be appropriate because they are women?
