All roads lead back to the issue of recruitment and under Brands we've recruited players more suited to Holland or Portugal than England.

There just hasn’t been any kind of ‘joined up thinking’ regarding recruitment ever since Moshiri took over. Prime example was signing 4 ‘number tens’ after selling Lukaku who slotted for fun for us. There’s just no combinations throughout the time , the likes of the Pienaar / Baines partnership on the left that served us so well for example. It’s almost criminal how the money has been squandered here

You go through some of Brands signings and how he thought they would work in the Premier League astounds me:

Benard - weak as piss
Kean - too lazy/not physical enough
Gomes - too slow/not physical enough
Gbamin - ditto
Delph - finished physically for the pace of the league
James - talented player but was never working out long term in terms of the physical demands/pace
Allan - not quick enough
Godfrey - CB who cant defend in the air

Even Richarlison struggles at times and is throwing himself around the pitch and he's one of our best players.

All that money wasted is why we're in the mess we are and that clown just swans off back to PSV with no care in the werld.

Clearly Brands was not given full autonomy though. It's the wrong thread for this but the reason Palace have a competent squad is because the whole club is on the same page with who they sign. Their owners aren't signing El Ghazi on loan as a favor.

He's ruined us mate.

We managed to repair ourselves somewhat after Walsh/Koeman axis of evil then he goes and wastes another £200 million on crap.

Im glad tbh because we would probably be in a worse position than what we are had he been given full control.

Lets not forget he was fighting to keep Silva in a job when we were in the bottom 3 having been tonked 5-2 at Anfield.

He also thought replacing Idrissa Gueye with Fabian Delph was solid recruitment !

Some people want an individual to shout at, a scapegoat to blame and focus all their anger at.

The reality is that he was just one in many cogs, from top to bottom, that have failed us over the last 5/6 years. Just how instrumental he was in that downfall, you really don't know.
