Ireland is not in the Six Nations as a Home Nation., officially or unofficially. That's like saying France and Italy are in as home nations As for 'trying' to be a rival in sport? Have you checked the rugby results or world rankings? Ireland currently holds the Grand Slam and is ranked number 1 in the world.

I consider ROI as a home nation for footie. Pretty much all their players play in England, and before you get arsey about tons of other foreign players playing here so why I dont think Portugal is a home nation, Irish players have graced the England game for decades and decades.

You didn't agree, u said 'Not Officially'. There is no grey area, It is very clear, Ireland is not a home nation.

Wiki is always a dodgy source but did you even take any time to read what you posted?
" was an annual football competition contested between the United Kingdom's four national teams: England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland (the last of whom competed as Northern Ireland starting from the late 1950s)."
Note the use of 'was' - past tense and it even adds the caveat that it was Northern Ireland up until the 1950's but then Ireland joined it and Ireland is not in the UK. You are jumping between football and rugby and it is difficult to understand what point you are trying to make. I am stating for a fact that Ireland is not a Home Nation. Are you actually disputing that?
