How many points did Benitez pick up after those initial 13 until he was eventually canned?
Not many, which is why he moved on, but people were allready sulking about him after 6 games, in fact after 9 games last season we did have 14 points, do you think we wil have 14 after 9 games this season?

Doesn’t matter what people thought of him. If he picked up more than the 6 points he managed for the rest of his time here, he’d probably still be in a job and you could carry on giving him a textual reach around.

He hasn't had a striker for 5 of those games though (Dont even suggest Rondon as I know you joke about him but he has been appalling for us) And for most of those games, we have had most of the midfield injured and it wasn't until the derby when we actually had what looks like an actual squad available to him. You used injuries as an excuse last year, but not using it now, despite him losing 2 of his first choice CBs in game one, doucoure getting injured in game 2 and having a midfield of Davies and iwobi as Onana needed time to get fit and gel, and gueye and Garner not signing until deadline day.

Whether intentional or not, most of your posts about him come across as if you can't see the actual progress we have made on the pitch. Which has been considerable. Whereas last season, you didn't seem to care about the results.

Is that down to the manager though or is it down to a near new starting 11 and no Coleman/Gomes/Siggurdsson/Keane ?

Peeps are telling me we're doing great but 0 wins in comparison to our competitor's suggests otherwise.

He deserves a full season but he also deserves valid criticism including the bonkers lack of subs / in game management as they have cost us as many points as has the little forward options.

I mean, the game he made no subs, we didn't exactly have much options. What, did you want him to bring gomes on?

Not sure anyone is saying he is doing great, the majority are saying that the performances are much improved and there is a clear plan and process in place, but have been limited by no striker.

And if Lampard fails here like every manager since Moyes - will "Lampard lover" be a fair stick to beat someone with whenever they offer a valid criticism of a future manager that follows as whats the difference ?

See my point ? all a bit witch hunty isnt it ?
Yes of course it would be a fair stick to beat someone with if somebody supports Lampard whilst he’s performing as horrifically.

People still to this day call out davek for his unwavering support of Martinez even when it was clear he’d lost the plot so yes if I’m sticking by Lampard when the overwhelming majority can see he’s failing then call me whatever you want.

It’s not ‘witch hunty’, people will always call out opinions they strongly disagree with, that’s what this forum is all about.

No, this just isn’t true.
Nobody liked him as a person or anything but everyone was very content with the start we made and most were willing to keep behind him as long as results kept coming in. It wasn’t until the horrific collapse from 2-1 up at home to Watford to losing 2-5 that the tide turned and he lost good faith from most of this forum.

Brighton, welcome back to mediocrity
I don't think their progress over the last couple of seasons was all down to Potter tbh. Think their transfers (both in and out) have been great by and large.

Reckon they'll be fine. They should be able to get a decent manager in to replace him.

Today will certainly sting for their fans though..

I guess the other issue around that is that Ashworth left and went to Newcastle. So the two key factors of the transfers and progress on the pitch will have gone.

Ashworth was just the sporting director at Brighton, he wasn't that involved with the recruitment side of it more the youth stuff. The key to all their good signings is a guy called Paul Winstanley who is the head of the recruitment there. I notice that Potter has just blagged Winstanley's no2 from Brighton to take to Chelsea.
