Today's Football 2018-19 Season

For me, he has enormous skill and technique coupled with a dodgy temperament which stops him being the player he should be. His biggest failure when he first broke into the first team was his decision making regarding when to pass. He has improved in that area massively but he still gets caught out. Went through a poor spell of form earlier in the season but has bucked himself up since his ban for being sent off at Southampton, scoring 5 in 7. He ties up so many defenders that the space created for others is the main benefit often. I admire him as a player, I'm glad he plays for us, but I don't feel the love like I do for say Wan Bissaka or Luka.

Seemed from the highlights yesterday the team relies so much on him it was actually detrimental to the performance as all passes, even when other options were better, went to him.

I didn't say it was justified or morally sound and I've no idea about the steward (link ?) or social media posts.

I'm not saying that fans assaulting players is cool and acceptable, just that in this particular instance I'm not overly sympathetic towards grealish given the stories about his own behaviour in public.

Some thug attacks him, and then Grealish scores the winner!Poetic justice i think.

Paul Mitchell, 27, is due in court this morning charged with attacking Jack Grealish yesterday

27!! Eff off, I thought he was about 57.

They're discussing it all today, people suggesting points deductions when this happens is utterly laughable. Some fans would actually go to rival grounds and do it then.

Then I've read a few say about a player could get stabbed. Look, they have stewards on the gates who pat you down before the match, that's supposed to stop that.

They're never going to have enough stewards to be able to stop 60,000 fans if they all wanted to come on. But give them all a tazer gun and then they can act.

While this often happens at away games, I haven't been searched going into Goodison for years and I mean years! Neither are most others fans going in.

Yes it may be different at other grounds but I suspect it isn't and as the fan was a Birmingham fan, at St. Andrew's, then it's a possibility - unlikely but possible.

And while I'm not sure whether I agree with points deductions or not, it is the club who are fined for disorder by their fans so a points deduction fits that model.

I think the issue is that it seems to be coming a more common issue whether fans are confronting players, which differs from the ol' streaker or idiot wanting a laugh.

Well that's the main thing, isn't it? While it's distressing to see players get pushed/punched by a fan (I know Grealish wasn't hurt), it's so, so easy for a fan to bring in a lethal weapon and actually kill somebody. I don't blame the stewards in the stands as it's virtually impossible to keep somebody off the field if they really want to get on (unless way more stewards are employed), but stricter checks should be made before fans enter the stadium. Even then they'd still be able to find a way to bring a weapon with them.

Yeah, three in the last day is a big issue and I think Scotland have a few further issues recently too. I'd be shocked if they didn't heighten the search during that Derby game but I dunno if I could blame the clubs, it'd be on the individuals for me. You could train a steward all you want, they could just be lazy not search thoroughly enough. The individual who decides to do it is also to blame. Like I said, it'd be impossible for the club to stop all the fans if they all wanted to run on and that goes for every club. Some clubs will have more moronic fans than others, just pot luck at the end of day.

Not sure there's much that can be done other than putting up shielding.

Is this like a fulham version of stan by Eminem?

I thought the exact same. He waited in the blistering cold. Ffs, that dad should get a grip. Pay to meet the players if it's that important. How many thousands of fans are there? How's sessegnon going to see the sign? He's got a footie match to consecrate on, not getting his binoculars out to see who might have a sign with his name on. What happens if two kids make the same sign?

Like said before, it's getting a bit out of control, because I can definitely see 40 year old fat kopites start doing it or paying kids to get one for them.
