Today's football.

Why? We don't want Europa, it'll ruin us as it does every team. It's designed to prevent the "big clubs" in each league being dislodged from their thrones. Champions League or nothing...

I'm sure the winner of next seasons Europa gets champions league football, teams will be taking it a lot more seriously

Moyes only excels from adversity - small guy vs big guy, siege mentality, us against them. It's pretty hard to instill that into a team of multiple champions.. and let's be honest he had enough practice at it at Everton having lead us into several rabbit warrens with some abysmal starts to seasons - but when push came to shove in must win ties and league games - not to mention nearly every Derby match (home and away) he just didn't cut it. How that escaped the gaze of the United board and Ferguson heaven only knows.

He'll turn out to be Fergusons worst ever signing.

And he bought Djemba-Djemba

That's nonsense.

As a manager he got us from bottom half of the table to consistent top 6 challengers on a shoestring budget with a few European trips along the way. Regardless of whether he's tactically inferior to other managers at the highest level, he's never a failure as a manager.

He may fail at United, but very few coaches are cut out to manage one of the biggest teams in the world.

I've just said he's a world class director of football, which is exactly what he is - worked on a shoestring budget to bring very good players to the club. He never managed them effectively though in my view.

He's never proven his managerial ability, he's just proven consistently that he's a genius in the transfer market. A manager in any occupation requires a different skillset to a purchaser.

agree, he's not a terrible manager, but as we got better under him, he seemed to get worse.

you've nailed it with the small guy vs big guy stuff. it's why we always did so well in 2nd halfs of season. we'd already ruined it in the first half when the pressure was on and couldn't achieve anything in the season.

i wouldn't be at all surprised if united go on a run for a couple of months to pull them back into the race for CL from nowhere and then when it gets to the pinnacle, they'll falter.

man utd are offering chelsea 37 million for a player chelsea dont even want or need

its like man utd offering us 37 million for naismith

****ing snap their fingers off doesnt matter who is making the bid.

Chelsea don't need money mate. If Mourinho has sold them a very, very good player it means he doesn't see them as a rival. Simple as that.

i might have felt sorry for him if he hadn't lied to evertonians, to us, over his contract.

i might have felt sorry for him if he hadn't offered what he knew was a piss take offer for baines and felli.

i might have felt sorry for him if he hadn't tried playing Charlie big Bollox and said Everton were holding both players back in their careers.

but he ruined it all, for me, when he rolled over in the swamp derby 2seasons ago. That was the night I gave up with him.

the sour faced whingeing ballbag

you forgot the 'at everton we didnt always set out to win. its different here at united'

Our highest points total in the last 10 years came when we were heavily involved in the UEFA. In recent times competing in Europe has never damaged our league performance significantly, if at all.

Myth.

A couple of exceptions, of course, but look at Swansea, Newcastle, Spurs... Good seasons one year, ruin by Europa the next.

I couldn't agree more!

They need it inasmuch as financial fair play rules need to be abided by. That 37m along with the 10m profit they made on De Bryne or whatever his name is allows them to, if they want, go and get pretty much any top striker and live within the fair play rules.

can hardly compare us to swansea mate - they only got promoted two years ago.

newcastle are bang average as well and just massively overachieved the season before.

spurs have always underachieved given the players they've had last 5/6 years, nothing to do with europe.
