It isn't over yet though. Liverpool look more vulnerable at the back each week. They'll have to sort that out asap even if they want to hang onto 4th.

The Spurs result will be interesting. If they win today I think Liverpool will be very concerned they've had a massive set of results but still cant shake off the 5th place chaser.

Except with being even luckier than Liverpool this year there is nothing I've seen from spurs that would make me believe that they are catching them. Barring a huge collapse Livepool is top 4.

January 1st we were 5th, one point behind 4th placed Liverpool.

How were we out of the race ?

Where were we at end of January?

Am I a month out of sync? Was it February where our 'challenge' for the top four proved to be nothing more than a load of hot air?

Mate just stop now it's embarrassing, he is currently the premiership top scorer and joint top with assists. Regardless of what kind of person he is he is a massive asset to Liverpool whether they keep him or sell him for 80 to 100 million and use that money to attract the kind of players a team in the champions league will attract.
been playing well for 3 seasons, and not one bid from barca, madrid or munich, only arsenal have showed an interest, so in fairness he may have a point

Haven't read any of the above but I think we all knew we wouldn't get top 4. When Bobby decided not to spend then that just put the full stop at the end

How was it hot air?

We were playing well and getting results but then we hit a run of bad form

We were in the hunt before that

Injuries and a crap January window killed us stone dead at that point, but we were in the mix prior

I don't see what point you're trying to make

February 1st we were 5th, two points behind Liverpool. It wasn't until about two weeks ago that we fell away really.

You've had a mare here.

i can't see a team as madrid going for him.

he's a very good player, but what would you say is his biggest moment in football? the bad things instantly come to mind like the WC handball, the biting and the racism.

but then after that?

has he done anything remarkable in the champions league like bale did at san siro? nope.

has he won a massive game for liverpool in a high pressure league/FA Cup game against a top side? struggling to think of any tbh. he's scored against the better teams, but they've usually been consolations. he's scored a few important goals vs us in the league, but they've mainly been draws.

his equaliser vs us at wembley is probably one of the biggest achievements of his career.

he possibly scored big goals at ajax in the high standard dutch league?

maybe he did something good for uruguay in a a south american qualifying game against someone like colombia or ecuador?

it would be a risk for sure for a team as good as real to go for him, hence why arsenal where the only ones interested when they'd finished 7th and he was promoting himself as available all around the world.

I dont know mate, it pains me to say it but Madrid would see his international and club form and in a very tough league like ours and defo want that as an option for them. As for the racism: I doubt they're going to be too arsed about the racism of the Evra affair.

Regardless of Suarez though I think they'll be very stretched next season if they get CL footy. They aren't owned by an oligarch throwing billions at it. Thery're owned by a sports business group looking to speculate a bit in order to sell up later. They'll have to wait for their shik or oligarch to really stand a chance of getting back near the top.

Dose no one else think it might be funny to see Liverpool in the CL they would be a 4th teir pot team would be good if they got some groups like man city got aka barca dourtmound or real or bayern see how far there 70 yard hoof balls get them against them.

If they get CL anyway best they can hope for is 3rd and europa spot.

I'd rather us work our way up tbh. Achieving to much tofast could be counter productive. GettGet g smashed all over Europe by the top teams in world football could do some real damage to there dressing room like.

he's never proved himself to be at that level though. that's all i'm saying, why would one of the biggest teams in the world take that risk?

bale had one sniff of the CL ripped one of the best RB's in the world apart and scored a hat-trick at the san siro all at a very young age.

he's done other things as well and multiple last minute winners of high class last season and he's scoring at 1 in 2 at the biggest club in the world with the biggest price tag ever on his back.

that's the kind of class you pay £85m for. what has suarez done of similar note? it would be a risk, that's what i'm getting at, just can't see that calibre of team going for him.

the prem is a great league to watch because of it's competiveness, but you wouldn't say the quality is as great as it use to be. not too many players in the prem would be in the world top 50. none would get in a world team of the year either.

Who turn down Real Madrid to stay at Liverpool? Only a fool.

Liverpool are doing OK but Real Madrid are one of the biggest clubs in the world. When they came in for Gravesend despite us challenging for fourth too at that point I wished him well.

The point is that our 'challenge' for top four was nothing more than a load of hot air, again.

If challenging for the top four constitutes being at pace with the real challengers until February and then dropping away dramatically with four months of the season remaining, then fair enough. But I don't consider that to be a challenge at all. I'd call it failing to challenge for the top four.
