I would like to think that given the new reward for winning Europa League, Bobby would be given the flexibility to go all out in that competition at the expense of a league place or two.

We as fans would have to be ready for that too, though. If that's the goal we need to keep our fume levels down if we get the 7th place trophy in 14/15.

In reality though, only the knockout round of EL is strenuous. We should be able to handle the group stage with youngsters and reserves.
 
The europa league is a farce really, the odds are stacked right against the side's in the group stage winning it due to the cl sides dropping in.

Chelsea played 9 games to get to the final where tottenham played 13 to get to the quarter's
 

davek is spot on lads, the RS are the luckiest team ever and if they do manage to spawn their way into the CL who's gonna want to go to them?

No top players are gonna go to some European no-mark team they've probably never heard of. As per usual they'll be out of the CL before Christmas and in the bottom half of the league, normal service will be resumed.

Not a massive fan of it, unless we were in it, but your arguement is like saying the FAC is a farce cos the PL and Div 1 clubs join in the 3rd round. But I see where you are coming from.

possibly. but there are plenty of great attacking sides out there in the world. we were talking about genuinely class ones, half of those there are today seem to be content at sitting on benches at real, barca and bayern etc.

There'd be murder though. Because some believe the nonsense that we need to focus on the Holy Grail of the CL.

I agree with this - nearly 20 years trophy less - we have to look hard and long at our club and realise what's realistic with our current owners and what isn't ...Moyes failed in 11 years to bring a trophy to Goodison and despite being an auld git and having seen a lot of success from '63 onwards I would love a piece of silverware to celebrate again - I hope and pray that Roberto is the guy to give us that ... COYB !!

That Sturridge with more goals per minute than Messi/Ronaldo this season is pretty 'ok'.

Its true they have spent alot on tosh (Carrol 35m LOL), but can't think of a bigger bargain than Sturridge in recent years.
