So basically what people are saying, we'd need Duffy, Garbutt, Lundstram, Kennedy for the Europa League rather than loaning them out. So we'd be qualifying for a competition where we'd be happy to play our reserves and go out in the group stage? Seems pointless to me.

We can play our reserves in some of the games and still get out of the group stage. We've done this before.

I personally think we're more likely to win the EL if we qualify for it then qualify for the Cl if we don't.

One off tie with Martinez in charge against a much worse team than the limited Moyes had to face last time around?

I'd fancy our chances there, tbh.

I think amongst all this debate, gentelman, we can all agree that as long as we have Billy Liar and his gang of hucksters and ne'erdowells acting like a dead weight on the club we'll see no success whatsoever.

That divvy will leave Everton after about 18-20 years having presided over a regime that won the square root of precisely nothing.

A club like Everton.

What an utter failure.

You are probably right. But I would love for you to be proved wrong. In a nice way..

Robles
Hibbert Stones Alcaraz Oviedo
Gibson
Delafeou Osman/Naismith McGeady
Traore Kone
Is good enough to get us through the whole group stage of europan right now, if we're being honest. i know that won't be our team next season, but you'd hope we'd improve in the summer.

No, sorry I wasn't clear.

Say we finish 6th this year and depending on how other teams go in the cups go we either get in the europa or don't.

I say we're more likely to win the europa if we get into it, then finish top 4 and qualify proper for the cl if we don't.

So not just the one off game but 4th and the one off game. I think winning the europa is easier.

Traore and Barca Lad wont be here though.

Oh hang on, see what you mean.

Personally I hope we qualify for Europe, that may sound silly, but it's what I hope.

As things stand right now there's the prospect of playing the likes of Wolfsburg, Moenchengladbach, Fiorentina, Inter, Socieded, Villarreal, Lille, Marseille, Lyon. Excites me enough.

If we get through the group stage we could play CL drop outs.
Also winning it is a way into the Champ League starting next season I believe.

this. the sad thing is, i think that it's only the mass of injuries at the worst possible time that have cost us, not our overall quality.

we've seen squad players like oviedo, stones, naismith, osman, delafeou etc. all come in and do jobs which shows imo we do have the depth and quality in the squad to deal with the odd one or two injuries.

but when you have to play liverpool with half a team half-fit and then chelsea and spurs away with all 3 strikers injured it's terrible luck rather than a lack of quality.

This isn't an issue exclusive to us though is it. The teams around us have had injuries over the course of the season. It's not an excuse for our inability to kill teams off when we have had massive amounts of possession and chances galore.
