I don’t really question Mr. Cannon’s movement or finishing ability. I don’t think he is another Simms. He can get involved in the buildup. What I question is can he handle the physicality of league defenders? The premier league is the most difficult in the world for strikers in particular. All I know is having Maupay as a striking partner won’t help anybody. He needs to be binned to the moon. He just can’t play footy- but we all know he will play because of his price tag. So boooo
Even by GOT standards that is very confusing.
18 months ago few would have predicted Cannon would score goals in the Championship. He is currently on an upward trajectory , probably the most improved player in the club over the past two seasons. He’s done so by working hard to improve a number of aspects in his game, not least his consistency of involvement, he was always likely to score one cracking goal every 5 games or so , last season he was doing it regularly. I think he’ll continue to improve this season but he needs regular game time . If we do bring in much need additional strikers we could likely afford to loan him out to Preston/ Sunderland very late in the transfer window and bring him back in January.

You can only score goals against what's in front of you but at least 4 of those chances he scored from are unlikely to happen with Premier League defenders
Unless he's playing against us that is
If not afforded game time with us then a loan is the sensible option. Don't sell him for a measly couple of million now. Get him in a championship team and if he can get around 15 -20 goals (similar to ratio last season) then we have then a choice to recall and help us or have quadruple of his worth now. Business sense.
