So how's he been performing as an Everton player?

I absolutely hated the sight of him at Old Trafford and was delighted when he left. He was a big game bottler who had an arrogance around him as though he had 'made it', when it was clear to anyone with a set of eyes that he was absolute dross the majority of the time. He did start out well at United, though and his loan spell to Watford early on in his career was extremely promising. I have no idea what happened to him along the way but his confidence was clearly an issue in his latter days with United.

How interesting to see he has progressed not one bit from this description. His sad, pathetic little 'hard man' foul in the City game showed him for what he is - a little coward who could only lash out in spite at his own ineptitude.

Those super effective Cleverley stats in full

Season Apps (Sub) Gls YC RC W D L F A Pts
2015-2016 12 (3) 1 0 0 2 6 4 18 19 12
Total 12 (3) 1 0 0 2 6 4 18 19 12

Thats this season for Everton.

12 appearances, 2 wins, 6 draws, 4 losses.

so we have signed a CM who is not good enough to play as part of a two man partnership, pretty poor, because he most definately can't play AM off the striker

Yeah you know apart from those games he's looked really good as an AM or part of a 3 man midfield. Terrible on a free that. Fancy looking back through this thread for proof or would that ruin your ability to be miserable this evening?

the sign of a very limited footballer I'm afraid
Depends what you mean by very limited.

Think he is actually quite talented in some aspects, just not necessarily in things like leadership. Guess he will rarely be the star of the show but most of the time will put in solid performances and overall prove to be a decent signing for us.

I'll save any ire I have for players who clearly can't do a job for the team.

so as long as the rest of the team dominates, then tom will look decent, sound, what a signing

Not everyone can be an individual star that carries the team on their back Walken.

Think his best position is on the left wing linking up with Baines or in a midfield three, never been a particular fan of him (or Osman for that matter) in a midfield two especially when he is still regaining match fitness from a bad injury.

The main concern is both Besic and McCarthy can't seem to stay fit either.

He's average at whatever he does, even his fans can't define his position for me, he's going to get a lot of stick on the internet I'm afraid, because he is going to get more game time than his ability deserves, he clearly has favourite status with the manager, we were just lucky he wasn'y fully fit when besic got his chance. If he was here as back up and nothing more, that would be sound, but while he keeping kev/pienaar/besic/lennon out the team without backing that decision up, he's gonna cop it
