Just because he is on a " Free " does not mean he will be cheap. Forget about Transfer fees for a minute.

He will be on a bosman, him and his agent will want a decent signing on fee in the region of 3 million. He is coming from United, one of the richest clubs in the world who pay high wages because they can afford it. More than likely in the region of of 60 - 80k per week, he won't be looking to take a paycut that's for sure.

4 year contract of 70k per week with signing on fee of 2.5 million will total 16.5 million.

Pack it in people who think because he is free from a transfer fee point of view he will be cheap, he won't.

No, what people are saying is that if he commanded a fee, being subject to the bizarre premium for English players - even at £10mil - he would still demand top wages for the reasons you set out. It's then close to a 30mil transfer.

Yes, but because he is on a free his representatives will use the no fee to obtain a higher signing on fee and wages.

Unfortunately that's the game, show me the money.

People keep saying he will be a squad player on a free it's a no brainer. He will command close to our highest paid player. No doubt put Jimmy Mac's nose out of joint as he will be on much less per week.

We have besic and ryan ledson to come through so for me its a waste of a transfer.
Our priorities lie in other positions

Besic let's say is on 30k per week, Cleverly comes rolling in on more than double him. His agent will be whispering in his ear to cause a fuss.
Yeah I agree mate.
If cleverly was a top player who would make a difference I would have him in an instant but he is far from that.

Those figures for Cleverley are the most ridiculous things ive ever seen. Wont be on anywhere near that. Our top earners are on £75k, he wont be anywhere close.

So Manchester United the highest earning club revenue wise in the UK won't be paying a full England International anywhere close to 75k per week. Come on, think about it for a minute. Then, have a look at United's wage bill.

You hate Everton don't you Tubes

Nope, just Kone, Alcaraz and Cleverley, and to a lesser extent Robles.

If Harry Redknapp had that track record of buys from an old club, people would be calling him dodgy as hell.

Five in total including McCarthy.

Just googled Uniteds wage bill, two different sites have Cleverly on 70k per week.

Could be true or false but he won't be far off it, United don't pay people on the cheap. 180 million wage bill per season proves this.

With Tom on a free, it would not surprise me if he asks for 100k per week or willing to accept 80k on the basis of a large signing on fee.
