Tom Cleverley

Tom's calling me to come to bed , so goodnight to all my friends on the cleverly thread. Good news is the semi final tickets are on sale for non season ticket holders from reputable sites for £285. form a que.

Last time I checked this thread I thought an agreement had been reached.

which was...Tom is not good enough to play central midfield but he is useful on the left-side away from home.

At home, he does not pose enough of a threat and a more attack-minded player would be better.

Oh for a Pienaar of a few years ago :(
Nail on the head here. It's as much about partnerships out wide and I'm not convinced we have that on either side at the moment.
We're not just missing Pienaar of a few years ago but also Baines.
Cleverley is best option in squad for me on the left but I'd prefer to see him become one of our central midfield options.

He has reached the pinnacle of average, I don't blame him for any performances but to me he brings nothing to the game

Cleverley doesn't link play at all tho. Not remotely close to the likes of say a pienaar, who I think you were referring to. Yes some players are more natural widemen than others, like lennon etc. But cleverley playing out wide is just absurd. He can't link, and he can't help a fullback.

He does link. Not to the standard of Pienaar but better than either Kev or Del.

He also tracks back and helps the full back.

You're talking nonsense

I think the boy's talented, but where does he play exactly? It feels like Martinez is trying to shoehorn in him into an unfamiliar position and it's not working. Why not have Ross take a breather for a bit as his form has been off, and give Cleverley the shout at that number 10/8 role?
