Very poor again. It's really not his fault though. He really shouldn't have played this many games for Everton by this point, given the money we've spent. Same for DCL.

It seems that buying a decent midfielder or striker since Lukaku and Barry were brought in has been an impossible job for Everton under numerous managers. Meanwhile the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea don’t even have CL football but have Lacazette and Morata on their benches. There’s really no excuse for it, just years and years of complete dereliction of player recruitment. 11 years of work Moyes did establishing us as a top 6 side undone in a few seasons of Martinez and Koeman.

Big supporter of Davies and I hope the lad has a great career here but at the moment he's a passenger in a key area of the pitch. At 20 years old the role is probably a bit big for him and he seemingly needs a bit of time to figure out exactly what type of player he's going to be. Right now he's your bog standard lower tier Premiership midfielder, hopefully he becomes much more.

He's a young lad who's come through our fine academy (or 'the football factory' as it's euphemistically coined around the football world) and quite plainly he bleeds blue. I've very recently read (this page in fact) comparisons being made between his game and Zidane's, and whilst I suggest an element of hyperbola habitues such claim, isn't it fabulous to know that he's a loyal blue who won't be going anywhere. Everton can be so grateful than we can enjoy young Tom's* talent for at least another ten years.
Our future is assuredly bright!.

*I call him Hipster because I think he just exudes Jack Kerouac cool.

Totally agree except for the last bit. I don't know any other premier league team he would get a start for.

Silva repeatedly seems to be making the mistake in trying to play too many inexperienced young players in the same side. The only young player in the squad who is of the required level to be starting for Everton is Richarlison. The rest of them need to be given time in 30 minute spells when the time is right, or to play when the main player in that position is injured, i.e with Kenny/Coleman at the moment.

Davies is not playing well enough to start and I don't even think he's a better option than what we have in that position even if he was in form.

Davies needs to concentrate on retaining possession. He should even be showing a degree of stubbornness with it like Schneiderlin does and ignoring the crowds demand for him to drive forward. The in form Davies should be capable of more than that but right now he's doing himself no favours by giving it away so often so he needs to play his way back in to form. Having a player or even 2 in the middle that only play 5-10 yard balls is not going to get Everton winning many games though, hence why Silva shouldn't be picking him this often, and shouldn't be playing him alongside Schneiderlin.

In the upper bullens last night and everyone around me agreed at the present moment this lad is just not good enough. Some strange passes, lots of backward passes and the play seemed to slow down everytime he got the ball. How on earth was he made captain for a few matches this season is a mystery.

I'm relatively pleased that the areas of the squad that need improving are being highlighted like, as the centre of defence was in pre-season.

The midfield and striker positions will see serious investment in the next two windows, I'm sure.
