Agree it was a good move by Silva but to be fair to The Golfer, I seem to remember him making Barkley captain for a League Cup game, might have been Yeovil.
I refuse to be fair to that whopper, he doesn’t deserve it. No use making someone captain then continually berating him publicly.

Think we'll see Tom replacing Gana and Morgan slotting back in. He can run around a lot more in the Gana role, might be a better fit for him than having to sit deep.

No he doesn’t get “hyped up” at all. People see a young player with one full season under his belt, barely even an adult, with plenty of scope to improve. I know it’s dead cool and edgy to be able to say you were the first to write a player off early in their career, but what do you gain from it really? And coming on here after every half decent performance from him to remind us all that he’s actually crap because you said so, isn’t going to do you any good either.
Yeah and his avatar is crap as well ;)

Basically anyone slagging Siggy or Tom needs to get a grip.
The former is already top class when played correctly.
The second is already a good player , who is developing , and will continue to do so in the current regime

Funny how all of these managers keep turning to him isn’t it. Even Koeman and Allardyce notoriously reluctant to play youth played Tom Davies. They could choose from Rooney Siggurdson Klaasen Schneiderlin Gueye McCarthy Cleverley - they kept playing Tom Davies. Three managers in a row haven’t indulged Lookman or Vlasic, Holgate has only just started to nail a spot down, Calvert Lewin is very much on the bench, Dowell even further behind, but who has been consistently picked by all of them? Tom Davies. Marcel Brands has cleared half the squad out including a lot of those midfielders but Davies stays. He even got called into England training when he was 17 with the senior squad. The lad has star quality. It might not always show through and he might not have the physical gifts to go with it but last night we saw a 20 year old Everton academy player completely control a game against a decent championship outfit, tactically intelligent in attack and defence, laying on an assist, getting into goal scoring positions, switching play with ease. People are taking that for granted but we have no other player in our squad who can do this. None. Schneiderlin or Gueye can’t hit a decent pass if it’s over 5 yards, they can’t do the sort of run he did to assist the third, Silva can’t ask Siggurdson or Dowell to do the defensive job Davies did with the discipline he did it with. I think we hugely underrated what a good player Tom Davies is.

But, some our experts on here think he should be loaned out to a Championship side... surely they can't be wrong.

It’s a bit of a shame that any of the younguns have to be put in the spotlight really. What will help Tom more than anything is becoming more of an authority on the defensive side of the ball. Most of his challenges weren’t even noticed last weekend because they were ‘nicks’ rather than tough tackles. Get Goodison rocking with a good challenge and I’m sure it will do him a world of good. He seems a confidence player as do most of our guys.
