Personally, I think it's harder for the local lads
Have to disagree with that tbh. People were blinded to barkley because he was local imo

Baningme in the hole
Were Chelsea, Spurs and England blinded for that reason too? Barkley might not have turned into the player some thought he might but let's not rewrite history, he was bloody good.Have to disagree with that tbh. People were blinded to barkley because he was local imo
Not sure about that.I think if he would have had a season or 2 in the championship or League One getting stuck in playing every week we would have seen much more progression.
Spurs didn't go after him, he was dropped of the English scene and Chelsea were prepared to wait for the player so that the price would drop... there can't have been that much competition for him. Were Chelsea, Spurs and England blinded for that reason too? Unfortunately Davies will probably have the same issue, with all the people who were in such a rush to proclaim him as the second coming after half a dozen decent games turning on him and saying he's wasted his talent and gone backwards when he turns out to be just decent, while the rest of just comment honestly on what we see and retain a bit of balance, but get criticised for it because we're not setting him up for a fall. It's like the circle of life.

I believe that Spurs were very much in for him, but he made it clear he would prefer to go to Chelsea. Chelsea were prepared to wait for him because he wouldn't have been able to play for them anyway! They saved themselves £20m or whatever, they'd have been absolutely stupid to sign him earlier so that's a pretty low blow for someone who isn't trying to criticise. Regardless of dropping off the England scene, he still has 22 caps (22 more than I think many of the young players we're currently supposed to say are boss will get) which I don't think he got because he was from Liverpool, do you? That was my point after all.Spurs didn't go after him, he was dropped of the English scene and Chelsea were prepared to wait for the player so that the price would drop... there can't have been that much competition for him.
I am not trying to be critical of Ross Barkley and I feel he would have done much better by staying Everton, but over the last three seasons he has gone from one of the brightest English prospects to a squad player at Chelsea. His career has not fallen off a cliff but it certainly has taken a tumble.
Could have got Davies for cheaper couldn't they? But they didn't because... they thought Barkley was better. I'm not saying Chelsea think Barkley's the best player in the world, just that he's quite clearly good, as recognised by most, but sadly not all.Barkley was a top , top 17 yr old. He improved and got into an England team that handed out caps like sweets. His attitude changed and Chelsea signed him for their quota and because he had no time left on his contract. Spurs? They didn’t sign Hindus they? They low balled us because they didn’t want to pay a decent fee for him either. If he had 4 yes on his contract or even 2 yrs nobody would have paid 30-40 m for him. Chelsea signed him for the same reason they signed drinkwater
So you're dream is to see us in the championship? My dream is to see Dowell and Davies paired together in the center of the park behind a striker with 2 pacy wings either side. Not now, but in a few years.
Why does everyone keep mentioning his age? Mbappe is 19

Bets on him being shot by the time he’s 26.
Physical fitness wise of course.
