Not really comparable. We had 1 left back in the squad last season, Baines then had a long term injury. Injuries to Holgate and Coleman meant Kenny the only other full back had to play RB. We literally had no option but to play Martina who was promptly taken out of the team the second Baines was back fit.
Numerous Everton managers have had multiple different options to play instead of Davies. Klaasen, Rooney, Vlasic, Besic, Cleverley and Barry at one point. All of them have now left the club though and Davies remains. Any of those managers could have sold Davies instead or benched him to the point where he was pushing for a move to the championship for gametime. Instead they’ve all played him and sold those other players. No one on the side claiming that Davies isn’t good enough for the prem can answer the question why that is. Rather than a lack of competition, Davies seems to have continuously beaten off the competition.
Klaasen, Rooney and Vlasic all play different positions than him, they were played in a more forward role. Besic was never given a chance due to injury problems he had. I don't remember him keeping a fit Barry out of the team and Cleverley was moved on as we got a fee (12mil I believe) that we could not say no to.
He is only playing at the minute due to Gana not being fit. I'm happy to be proven wrong, but you can't argue that Tom Davies is good enough to be a first choice Premier League player when after 3 seasons he still isn't.
