I think the fans all would appreciate a very good homegrown player but we won't be happy watching them get forced into the team just because they came from the academy. Especially not when it's done 100 times with a player who hasn't offered anything for 3 and a half years.

He's gone very Anichebe. Some flashes of promise in his youth without looking convincing but has made far more appearances in this league than he has any right to do so. The fans aren't arsed that he came from the academy if he's weakening the team and not kicking on.

Time to send him to Sunderland or China.

We had done fairly well in the 2000s. One decent player every 3 or so years between Hibbert, Osman, Rooney, then Rodwell and then Ross.

Since then there's been Davies and now maybe Gordon. The 2010s has not been a great decade compared to the one before it.

For sure.

To be honest, in the last two decades our academy has produced one genuinely brilliant talent (Rooney), a few genuinely Premier League standard ones (like Barkley), and lots of professional standard ones like Lundstram and Dowell. Below that tier, you have the wasters like Davies, the Bitcoin of Everton youth production.

Yeh I think if an academy player can come through every 2-3 years it’s done its job when they get sold.

Actually. It‘s my impression on him. And that’s the 11 years he played under Moyes. And like the post #5305 I said in this thread, if you compare Osman and Davies then Osman was decent nothing more nothing less. Orly you are like my third form nephew trying to argue every word and phase, bit and pieces that I used. I honestly would not take every word said in a forum seriously otherwise you are just naive. Having a go at a certain player at a point of his long career at Everton, especially in his twilight year, does not mean I discredit a player‘s contribution and quality, as a whole. I had a go at Coleman today is that mean I do not rate him as a whole throughout his career with the club, no. Likewise, I slated Osman in 2013 or 2014 does not mean I do not rate him more than Davies, as a decent squad player. I don’t see what is the contradiction. Stop crying about that.
