Woeful player. 'Local lad ' , 'loves the club' etc etc can surely only stretch so far for a club that supposedly aspires to at least compete at the top echelons of the league. Take the money now, another Rodwell situation on the cards.

As a fanbase I think we really undervalue our players in the transfer market. £12m would be really poor business when you see some of the fees being paid these days on utter crap. He’s young and English with 100 PL games under his belt. Yes we know he’s distinctly average but still, the absolute minimum would be £15m.

But he was promising, and he is still young. He has probably played more than he should have because we have been poor, and by extension, has played in poor sides. We have absolutely zero balance in the midfield, which is the reason I'd be inclined to give Gomes the benefit of the doubt as well.
But when you experienced players like Sigurdsson and Delph not turning up, or supposed top class players like Bernard, falling over unchallenged, but getting away with because he's a "proper footballer", I think someone like Davies deserves the chance to show what he can do in a side with players who actually care what happens.
And £12m is ridiculously cheap. You unproven championship players go for more than that.
Now, if they come back offering £20m, then you have a decision to make. But honestly, we couldn't even replace him in the squad for less £15m.

This stat alone sums up how poor he’s been. You need a couple of your midfielders to be edging towards double figures in goals.

You'd be worth 70 million pound if you were approaching double figures from central midfield in the Premier League having just turned 22 years of age. This is what Grealsih is doing and he's 24.
I'd love us to sell him but he's got over 100 premier league appearances for a club like Everton having just turned 22. It's far from the worst record in the world when you think about it.
But everyone agrees that we need better. 12 million from the Geordies sounds just right!

Not really, but Davies didn't do anything helpful last season
I used to believe he was just experiencing a bout of mediocrity with the potential to overcome those displays in time. But after watching him this season especially after the restart , I feel like he's one of the worst midfielders in the league. He's atrocious , can't even complete the most basic of passes ,unable to perform basic tackles and offers no presence on the pitch. 12 million would be welcomed by me. I feel like it would be an oceans 11 like steal if that happened, as I think he's worth maybe a couple million at the most.
