He is the niceness of the human spirit and absolute beacon of beautiful scouse individualism that his detractors hate on, because they hate themselves. He is a selfless conduit in showing us exactly who we should goad online and I hope he stays until 36 and never ever reaches his potential.

well that depends where you see him in the pecking order. He shouldn’t be 3rd or 4th choice and as 5th choice if rather give one of the kids a chance, Davies has had plenty himself now. The caveat to that is he only a has year left and like you say, we’re unlikely to get a good price having missed last season with injury. I could see a new deal with the club selling next summer.
2x new midfielders with Doucoure as 3rd choice? I can’t see us buying 3 so that probably has Davies in the mix. But Davies & doucoure as a pair for any period of time would be a disaster
Actually we aren't short on funds. Moshiri has large cash reserves.
We're running at a heavy loss, in breach of or very near breaching various rules relating to profit and loss. So we aren't allowed to SPEND further unless we start bringing money back in, either through player sales or improved commercial activity.
This is where Davies becomes interesting; he's an Academy graduate, so for accounting purposes he cost zero... Any sale is pure profit.
- We have to bring in more CMs anyway.
- We can't keep everyone on the payroll.
- Gomes, Gbamin and Doucoure will all be harder to sell at a profit; selling them at a loss just causes bigger financial problems.
- Allan will take Davies' squad place, with a new starting CM or DM coming in.
In terms of finance, and where he is in the existing pecking order, selling TD makes a LOT of sense - particularly if done in combination with loaning Gomes out and getting HIS wage off the books.
I agree that Davies/Doucoure would be a disaster but the current options are all pretty poor. I wouldn't be keen on keeping any of them to be honest. As a squad player Davies has a low sale value and a comparatively low salary. He's not top of my list to go. In saying that, he can't have a long-term future here and given our need for funds we might have to sell anyone a decent offer comes in for.
